They should show adverts to make their money, or make it a subscription service. That way people will have a choice whether they want to pay money to a company who covered up child abuse for decades, or not.

I heard the BBC fat cat announce that they would be reviewing their complaints procedures AGAIN.
From experience the problem is not the BBC procedures, it's the BBC management. If the procedures are not implemented with genuine commitment then they are ineffective. BBC management doesn't do genuine or commitment.
It's only TV, seriously.
I hear people saying 'yes but the BBC exports shows around the world and caters for all kinds of minorities and special interest groups'.
So what, if they make all this money why do other countries watch it free while we are supposed to pay.
People in Finland seem to manage quite well without having a licence fee based national TV corporation ...
... and they're the happiest people in the world, perhaps they don't sit around watching TV.
If the BBC closed down tomorrow life would just carry on without a problem.

Police have now said they were first contacted in April but identified no criminality. This has the potential to backfire massively for The Sun.
Personally I think the BBC is the best value broadcaster on the planet and long may it continue. Also another name now getting mentioned as major suspect and he’s not Welsh.
All it has to do is sell itself then, rather than coerce people into paying for it.
That's the problem. It's near £4bn of monopoly money. No accountability.
Part of its attraction is no advertising and not influenced by big business. I believe that the license fee should be paid by everyone.
This is why they keep the likes of David Attenborough funded. They have to hold onto this freaky 'Auntie Beeb national institution no advert' shyte.

That's fair enough. For you. But I don't believe it, and though I refuse to pay it, I have had to deal with obtrusive attempts by goons to make me.
It does nothing that others cannot do as well or better, and acts as a bully, intimidating old and otherwise vulnerable people into forking out money which they might struggle to find. To pay vast wages to banal people talking to camera.
The BBC in 2018 spent over £90m on advertising actually. They were the industry's biggest spenders.
I think back in the day when I was a kid you could probably justify it back when the BBC did produce genuinely top class dramas and comedies regularly and had sports and news coverage that was pretty much second to none. But now, not really. I mean when you think of "I Claudius", "Elizabeth R", "Edge of Darkness", "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy", "The Boys From The Black Stuff", or "When The Boat Comes In", these are just a small sample that I can think of off the top of my head, but were produced regularly and didn't need hyping up for people to watch. And if you weren't interested, they'd probably put on something else at some point that you would be. What, in all seriousness, has the BBC produced regularly in the last 20-25 years that comes close to those? The odd one or two now and again, but nothing consistent. The standard had dropped that much that when they have a half decent drama or comedy it's hyped out of all proportion because the rest is the BBC being self congratulatory. The standard of news coverage has slipped to be behind ITV and Sky, in my opinion and sports coverage is pretty twee. Look match of the day now compared to 30 years ago or the forced, box ticking diversity among the presenters for other sports or the Olympics. Why does a failed football manager deserve a £100k pa salary to pontificate on what other managers are perceived to be doing wrong (in his opinion), especially as he'll be talking for longer than the highlights clip of the said game he's on about.
The BBC has needed an enema for 20 years to change its culture, but sadly I don't think this is going do it.
I still think the BBC produces some brilliant TV. Whether it is worth a licence fee I dont know, seems an outdated model.
Some of the more recent stuff I have loved include Luther, Life on Mars, Happy Valley, Peaky Blinders, Line of Duty. There are some really clever comedy shows I like too, although they arent churning out comedy like they once did. I like loads of the radio stuff too, and there is some cracking content on BBC Sounds. Their radio sports coverage is good, like TMS. I know I am drifting off the licence fee, but I do like a lot of their content.

The BBC is, for me, excellent value......£0 per year, I'm happy with that.
Never had a license since 2015, when we moved to where we are now. We got the threatening letters, all addressed to "the present occupier". I contacted them to say I didn't need a license and they wanted my name...er, no, I don't think so.
The no license required is valid for two years, the letters they sent to confirm this is now addressed to Mr. P. Occupier.
The knackers who come to the door have as much right to come in your house as the postman.....zero.
