Agreed. I think Mount is a decent player who has been played out of position in a wide role in a poor chelsea side. He’s a central midfielder who is a bit of everything. Scored a few goals, presses really well. Think he’s a good signing for united (albeit maybe overpriced). Him alongside casemiro and Fernandes will be a much more solid and well rounded midfield 3 than what they had last year where Eriksen was in.
Back on Colwill, don't think he would sign for us. His rumbling for leaving Chelsea has been about not getting game time there, he keeps getting loaned out. Who is he realistically going to replace on our first team? Robertson or Virgil? Or are we going to play two left footed centre backs? He would get game time, but I think he wants starting Xi status somewhere, and he's not going to get that from us (unless we are going to play 3 CBs next season).
Think Virgil is right-footed but prefers to play on the left? I think the idea is to play 3 at the back though, a la Evans @1996, or at least have the option. I'm happy about that tbh, as I think a dogmatic faith in 4-3-3 in whatever circumstances and whoever we have available has been our downfall in some instances in recent seasons. I think Jurgen and his coaches are developing a more pragmatic approach now, which is good.
We have European football, Chelsea don't so we will have more games than them and there will be defensive rotation. Also thinking about how all our defenders, other than Virgil, seem to be injury prone, he could find himself playing a lot of games and finally, he's the perfect understudy for Virgil and who better to learn from.
