Is Johnson good enough to go out on loan and play every week in League One do we think, or will it more likely be League Two? He looks big enough to handle the physicality of the men's game to me and ready for the next phase of his development.
Thought these were two decent workouts against 2 very tidy and lively teams. 7 goals and no injuries isn't bad, off to play the Yanks and back to the transfer thread. Thought the team v Gateshead looked more solid then a deflection and a sloppy mid field pass and were 0-2 so nice to see the lads turn it round. Having football back on a Saturday...Happy days.
well, not gonna sit here and try to pretend i knew all the face and names, especially the heed game, they all looked different in the new strip (have to say after seeing it in action i actually like it) but a bad performance would have shown up and i never saw one, yes there were a few 'rusty moves' and few plays they look as if they are going to use this season that never quite came off. basically, every lad that got on either pitch today played his part, new lads looked settled and the young lads just played as if they were part of the 1st team...would like to say 'this lad' had a good game but i would be guessing at names and all look capable to step up the odd game. semedo and bellingham, couple of nice steady debut's there i think, lihadji and ekwah seemed to step it up in the 2nd half, wanting to get involved more, only other one i am going to add is pritchard...when that man is fit and ready he is a shoe in, his work rate and movement means with the wide boys he needs to be central. not going to be hard on any of the lads as there are obviously things to be sorted, partnerships to grow, understandings to be made and i have to say both games provided a good test for our lads, two good teams there and i hope they do well in their leagues. was just good to see games back again.
Semedo, Jobe and Huggins all great positives. Huggins as good as a new buy, lad can really play. Some really smart cameos from some of the young lads as well. Really positive start to it all.
Enjoyed both games without any tension, the goals against didn't really matter, just enjoyed seeing some new faces and some of the established lads playing well. It's early days but it looks like we have some exciting new talent to watch, thought the youngsters stood up to be counted and the newbies fitted in well considering how long they have had to settle. The new season was going to be exciting anyway, but the excitement has just stepped up a notch for me, roll on the rest of pre-season so we can enjoy more of our young lads as they hone their skills and match fitness.
I really liked Semedo movement. I think he be ok to play from the get go if required. He was always on the go and was available. Great spin off run for the goal, good header. he be a big player.
Today was good, but highlighted we probably need another striker, even if RS stays we could do with some to help the new lad
Agreed but I’m in no rush to get a new striker. Good loans will appear closer to the season start. And if (big if) we get an acceptable offer for one of our “stars” then it means we suddenly have a bigger budget to play with.
Just back from the Gateshead game, I thought Johnson had a good game and didn't look out of place. Definitely hold his own in League 1
