a really odd one has just popped up

https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/liverpool-complete-pre-season-fixtures-v-sv-darmstadt-98-deepdale

we are going to play on august 7th at deepdale against german opposition.

this suggests the ground even with a closed anfield road end is simply not ready to host a game and the level of opponent suggests they were not willing to say go to Ireland and rent a stadium for a game was this opponent wouldn't fill it. (we did that a couple times with bigger games)

I really think that stadium is well behind. Everyone is saying its "on track"
Probably is but I am sure there is precedent for this
We just end up playing away don’t we for a bit

hardly ant of the squad are starting preseason on the date you keep quoting some are still playing in an international tournament ffs

well not really mate.

2 kids are off having the time of their little lives.

Everyone is back on tuesday. if you are telling me we are signing someone by Tuesday as they were at internationals or the U21s (thuram) fair enough.

lets just make do with the two and be grateful to FSG

LFC:

GK: Alisson, Adrian, Kelleher
RB: Trent, bradley (could be loaned or sold)
RCB: Konate, matip (can't tackle any more)
LCB: VVD, Gomez (**** me)
LB: Robertson, Tsimikas
No 6: Fabinho, Bajcetic, thaigo
LCM/10: macallister, jones
RCM/10: Szoboszlai, Rocky Henderson, Elliott
LW: Diaz, jota
false 9: Nunez, Gakpo
RW: Salah

The season is really down to that balance between pressing and defensive cover and transition speed.

5 forwards to compete for places, a new midfield, big al in goal. If they stay fit this time.

I'd be buying a CB if i were klopp but we are looking at 90mil spent before sales so I kind of expect us to balance the books now.

really need to go that extra mile but we will make do i think with that squad.

Bet you everyone is not back on Tuesday

GK: Alisson, Adrian, Kelleher
RB: Trent, bradley (could be loaned or sold) <--- Tsimi and Gomez can play here, but yes, isn't ideal. New signing would be better.
RCB: Konate, matip (can't tackle any more) <--- RCB and LCB can swap in an emergency... not ideal, but seperating them...
LCB: VVD, Gomez (**** me) ...makes things look worse than they are. A new CB would be good.
LB: Robertson, Tsimikas
No 6: Fabinho, Bajcetic, thaigo
LCM/10: macallister, jones
RCM/10: Szoboszlai, Rocky Henderson, Elliott
LW: Diaz, jota
false 9: Nunez, Gakpo
RW: Salah

Overall though, we keep getting linked to midfielders still, but I would say midfield could stay put as is (although more defensive cover would be better). Defence is where we really need to concentrate.

I'd be over the moon if we signed a good RB who can play CB too.

if we are really focused on this 505 formation or whaever you want to call it then you can start to play with names.

for example: bajcetic is very young but did play CB He could be your new emre can and play RCB in a 3.

Fabinho could step into CB in a 3 as his legs are slowing, for example.

if gomez recovered in a slight bit of confidence he could play RCB in a 3 but its a long long way off form what we saw last year.

VVD in a genuine 3 could be seeing an extended career if the other 3 can cover the ground. He seems unwilling to engage in any more.

All this is premised on trent stood at no 6 of course.

City have stones, "whoever", dias, Ake

stones stands i nthe middle and someone else much further up the park stands wide and stays wide.

Our system is different slightly in that we don't stay as wide and we seem to want to put a genuine big man CB out in that channel and let trent slot to CB in transition.

city have two very mobile but not huge players playing beside dias. this is why i ahve said vvd as the big mane and what do you put round him? bajcetic? gomez? konate?

TAA becoming a number 6, or even a false number 6 (is that a thing) is what worries me most. Not that he isn't good for that role... I think he's perfect for that role, but that we have no real cover for him now that Milner is gone... and if TAA is drifting into that position from RB whoever is in RCB needs to be bloody good (better than Matip).

konate is a bit of a crock. that's my actual worry.

Liverpool pre-season day one: Jurgen Klopp embraces Darwin Nunez
Could sit and watch these videos all day.

Jurgen Klopp rekindles with Darwin Nunez on the first day of pre-season.

The forward is back on the first day of tests after missing international duty for Uruguay with the toe injury that kept him out of Liverpool's final Premier League fixtures.

A massive season ahead for the former Benfica man.

I would love to know the total value of our squad compared to City’s
Speaking to a guy at training the other night and he claims
Klopps current squad cost more than City’s squad
I just cannot believe that ?
