I think we got a bit lucky in that the coach and players adapted to not having a c.forward.
We really should have had another option there.
We were really unlucky with the injuries to the whole defence leading up to the playoffs - on the plus side certain players came on a tonne for the experience who possibly wouldn't have had the gametime otherwise.

Not sure how its lucky to find talented players when we have the data team n scouting team that we have in place?

Teams always sell players, the important thing isnt what players leave but what players we sign.

Think some of us have mentioned brentford as an example, sold maupay, signed watkins, sold him then signed toney - plus used the profits to improve the squad

Why people are stressing so much is we havent had players other teams have wanted for so long so it feels weird.

It wasnt ideal not having a striker but theyve clearly built a good squad to deal with injuries and not be relying on 1 or 2 players to win us game - thats not lucky at all

Sticking to our vision and plan we will be succesful in the short n long term

Im not stressing whether clarke stays or go, i really want him to stay but i trust the club

If we sign a cracking player to replace and use the money to strengthen elsewhere it’ll be ‘remember Jack Clarke’. The good bit is that we don’t have to sell unless it provides us with both.

I’m confident that if he gets sold, for whatever price, it will be with the right intentions for the good of the club. And that’s something I’ve never been able to be confident with under previous regimes

Yikes, half a day off from the thread, some reporter says Burnley have put a bid in and 20 pages of the same ****ing rehashed discussions going round and round.

I know it's a discussion forum, but if this happens every time a team supposedly puts in a bid for one of our players it's going to get a bit boring

Without a shadow of doubt they have done fantastically and lucky is probably the wrong word. I just think the championship will be harder this year with the teams in it, both coming down and coming up. The home form has to improve and the fans enjoyed last season but due to the success of last season then the expectations have rose within the fan base.
The first sale and how that money is spent will be a very interesting time as no matter who it is who is sold there will be a fall out.

It definitely will be harder but we are also in a lot better place. The good thing with our policy is we should improve each season given we have so many young players

Im excited to see how the summer shapes up

Yep, and in general, if you look at recent history, we've ended up saying why didn't we sell him for that when we had the chance and subsequently sold them for half the price a year later. Thinking about Phillips and Arsenal mainly, but there have been others.

I'm not wedded to any of our players. The recruitment has been sound enough so far that I don't worry about the players that come in being good enough. I assume they're 'good enough'. Where I think the recruitment is untested is starting the season with the numbers we need. I'm not buying the 'they weren't available argument' again. Loads of time left. Anyone who is sold needs to be replaced and we need 3 (minimum) strikers when the season starts. If we've got that, I'm on board and full of confidence.

I think the issue is there is still a nagging feeling that we would sell for less than he’s worth, that’s just based on historical sales from previous owners…personally I don’t think we will under the new regime.

For what it’s worth Donald and Methven would have probably accepted the first bid :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Players like Clarke would not have signed in the first place. We are a different beast these days and it's certainly not through luck. We should just chill and enjoy the journey

That isnt luck in my opinion. It is excellent coaching of talented players. I would argue the only luck we had last year was Alex Neil buggering off.

Aye that's a good way of looking at it too - a good centre forward would have helped Mowbray but if there wasn't a mid term option available at a decent cost the club did the right thing. :emoticon-0148-yes:

Been with a couple of coaches from Birmingham today. It is fair to say they think Jobe has plenty going for him.

In amongst all the talk of players coming and going I would say the most important person in our first team is Mowbray and he is still here. The man is a brilliant coach, has massive respect of his peers in the league above and this one. He has created an environment in which players thrive and are brave. It is magnificent time to watch the lads and Mowbray is the main man in all of that. Clarke may go, Stewart may go, as long as Mowbray is coaching us I have no worries whatsoever about what will come. Wouldnt swap him for anybody else in this division at all.

I think a lot of our fans should really be listening to the club and not sky sports, KS has said we are not looking to sell but are building a team for promotion. I Get he is not everybody's Cup of tea but he does not normally talk utter drivel to keep fans happy so I tend to believe him. I don't know what the club have valued JC at and my guess us that non of us in here do. I would also guess that if Burnley have bid 3 times so what and if Sky report it so what there is very little else happening at the moment so they need something to talk about. Saying why are they still bidding it's pretty obvious we have turned down their offers but why would we give them a price it then encourages them to meet that price as if we want to sell which I don't think we do. His agent has stated he is happy but he is not going to tell Burnley or any other club not to bid as it raises his players profile. Basically don't panic, if he is sold he is sold and as a club we move on. IMO I think he will want to stay but may end up with an improved contract. Of course I may be wrong lol
