he did the same as last game and delayed taking it cos root got a couple.

odd call but just shows where we are with the front line bowlers.

I see we get a whole 2 overs out of new ball?

    a bit pointless I suppose

overall the thought that this is a save the series game now rather than trying to win other is becoming more prevalent for me.

Australia have a pretty good day at good run rate so far.

Yeah, huge day tomorrow. England need to win it.
If the Aussies make 450 plus then its play for the draw and look ahead to Headingley

England need to stop playing at Lords. They rarely win there and the atmosphere from the crowd is so dead it makes the Etihad look lively.

**** tradition and the 'Home of Cricket', play where you've got the best chances of winning.

England have won 57 out of the 144 Test matches they’ve played at Lord’s, giving them a win percentage of about 40%. 40% at what is supposed to be England's home ground.

England last won an Ashes Test match at Lord’s in July 2013. 10 years <yikes>

Since 1900 England beaten Australia 3 times at Lords. I mean Jesus that's bad

it's a batting track and always has been but England have basically handed the best of the pitch to Australia based on the assumption that conditions favoured bowling.

it looked green, it looked overcast, maybe Australia would have done the same?

England need an immediate collapse to get back into this game.

Probably. Best thing that could happen MAYBE but equally if its draining well and was properly covered and there grounds people out already sweeping etc then england might benefit from overcast conditions.

Get this last one out quick and be a good comeback for England. 350-5 and losing last 5 wickets for 50/60 runs will be good.

it's as good I think as we could have realistically hoped for so far.

if its not 450 all out now.

IMO if either of duckett and crawley get 40 they've done the job asked and both have so thats quite good.

the big issue is we are dependent on root getting 100 here to match smith.

The rest are all aiming for 40-50 scoring quick really.

they are on their 5 to 6 and over type run rate as well so we ust have to keep ticking over and see what comes here.
