The good thing is it didnt cost us short term. Remains to be seen if it does long term but I remain hopeful as we did get some good players out of last window. Generally speaking a third of your signings end up being good in any window and I would say we got about that hit rate. It's also clear the club has learnt from it as well. Be it because they've had to or because they've wanted to also remains to be seen
The minute Tan talked about him in that BBC interview I had a feeling his days here were numbered. We need to strong arm a decent fee given he's got a long time left of his contract
Ipswich will be up there, probably already a lower mid table squad and have money to spend. Signed Jack Taylor the other day, who seems like a very good addition
Not a penny less than an 8 figure sum, given the current market value for players these days. You also have to wonder why both of our most highly-rated, Hull-born prospects have pushed to leave us.
Would hope it's Brentford, and for an 8-figure fee like Kalman says. If he left for a club in the same division I'd be disappointed. Realistically, the writing has been on the wall for a while. He's our most valuable asset but we've found ourselves in a position where he arguably isn't a big loss because of McLoughlin's rise to prominence in the same position. Puts us in a great position to sell.
I think it’ll be the usual dog eat dog division with 1 team really hitting it, I do think Sun’lan will be there or there about again, I did fancy Wednesday to be doing similar to Sun’lan last year, but since Moore’s gone, things seem a bit strange for them.
If we can get north of £10 million for Greaves, we should really push to sign Eíran Cashin as his replacement. He won't be cheap either but much cheaper than what we'd sell Greaves for.
Wasn't there rumours KLP was getting interest and then he wasn't impressed with Shota so looked for the move? Can only imagine as they're best mates he's been telling Greaves about life on the outside
He hasn't pushed to leave, but once you know your club is willing to let you go then you will obviously listen to offers and as much as some won't admit, both clubs are bigger then us and a step forward.
KLP wanted to move as soon as he saw the money on offer along with the fact it was a big step forward in his career
True, but from what some have said on here, his new contract last summer was £15,000-a-week. KLP was probably offered similar if not more before he went to Brentford. Hardly starving to death, are they? I just don't think the players buy into the 'one club, one family' line as much as we do and to be honest, I get it to an extent. It's only a job and if someone offered you more money, I think most would change jobs. Still, I find it a little disappointing that our two best hometown lads have actively pushed to leave.
can imagine it was the perfect storm. maybe a manager like LR convinces him to see it out one more year. I doubt Shota had that pull and given what M88 has just said it just added kerosene to the already burning fire
He was never going to be a good fit for us. I don't know enough about him as a person to judge whether he's a decent guy or someone to get along with but I couldn't understand his cryptic interviews or what he was trying to implement on the pitch so I can see why the players didn't either and resented him for it.
Shota was well liked as a person, but he had zero respect as a gaffer. The money is decent for greaves and it's a step forward for him in his career. He's not pushed for the move at all. But it's the best move for all involved
I will admit Brentford and Leicester are bigger and better clubs and it's a move forward (though I'd prefer he didn't go to a team in the same division as us). Still disappointing though.
That's fine then. If we can get a decent fee for him, I've no issue with it. I'd still like us to use some of that money to get someone like Eíran Cashin who has just as much potential as Greaves rather than someone like Bradley.
Can only imagine selling Greaves for a sizeable fee opens a few doors that were probably closed before.
If we're smart about it we could get Brentford and Leicester into a bidding war. Tell Leicester we want more since they're in the same division and if they agree, tell Brentford to match it or increase their offer. Rinse them for as much as we can realistically get.
