I can't but a lot of people will be so entrenched in their views they simply won't be able to vote for anyone else. People who are life long Tory voters are very unlikely to vote for Labour and it's waste of time voting for anyone else. It doesn't mean they are racist though.

Who is being sensitive - I thought last night you may have had a few drinks, but now you are clearly looking to argue - who is getting sensitive - no one on this thread since you spouted about racism, has been sensitive.

I’m not sure there are many Tories on here just now, who would vote against them in a GE if it were tomorrow.

But, what have you said about Labour policies or anyone else? I’m not sure you have, so you are condemning and looking to pick a fight which a. Isn’t there, and b. You haven’t given the details of what you are looking for from the Tory voters - how will people benefit from labour coming in - and consider lower, middle and upper class people in your response, ranging from 18 - 110 years old…

I think a lot of people in the Red Wall constituencies are still clinging to the hope that some degree of the fabled “levelling-up” will occur, or that there will be some actual, tangible Brexit benefits. That doesn’t make them racists. Similarly, a lot of aspiring, middle class voters in the Shire seats will genuinely believe that their interests are best served by the Tories. That doesn’t make them racists.

So you want a reasoned argument from me, after calling me out on a throwaway comment, but won’t offer me one in its stead?

Voting anybody but Tory does one key thing. It gives the UK a fresh start. Since 2016 we have been the laughing stock of Europe with our failed Brexit experiment. We have been fed lie after lie and come to accept that bald faced lies are ok in parliament.

I am not arguing for Labour. Tory voters shoud do that as Labour are offering a cleaner Tory-Lite. I want a socialist party but that isn’t happening.

Now why should we vote to continue this **** show?

See, I don’t disagree with any of this post. It’s the equating of Tory with racist that I can’t accept.

I said probably and it was a throwaway comment but somebody decided to delete it without having the grace to message me the reason. A tory voter in this moment in time is at best an idiot.

No I haven’t asked you for a reasoned comment - maybe practice what you are accusing **** knows who of - read the response :emoticon-0102-bigsm I just said you hadn’t offered, didn’t say I wanted the explanation, as you were bitching about people not offering stuff up.

Reading **** like you are spouting right now will more likely vote Tories (cue the “like you wouldn’t have already” brigade) - genuinely id happily listen to what Labour have to offer me, but it is hard to understand and find out if it will benefit me just now. But hearing you talk bullocks like this (which is unusual for you actually, usually very reasoned), makes it hard.

Ok, nothing Loading, you are right, I am wrong, as well as being a racist and other things (nothing to do with not being arsed to get into this).

Now you have made me see the light I am now fully onboard with Kier Stramers Red Army. Thank you for helping me see the (red) light :emoticon-0148-yes:

I’m going for a lunchtime snooze as it happens, cut the hedge earlier and utterly exhausted. That will teach me to let the staff have a day off, and the Peacocks are too busy chasing immigrants off the lawn to do the hedge for me.

As an ex Tory voter, I wouldn't vote for them this time, but I tend to agree that the generalisation of the 'typical' Tory voters or anyone who votes for them are racist does get my goat a bit.

Rather than say how bad the Tories are, how about pointing out how good the alternatives are. Just Tory bashing all the time and name calling won't sway the Tory voters, but demonstration of an alternative may.

    IMHO of course.

Right, forget racism. I don’t genuinely think that anyway. My post got deleted because some people here must see something familiar in the comment though. I do think Tory voters are selfish and I don’t generally get on with them. Here is why you should care:

There are currently 3.3 million children living in low income families. 22.2% of children in Southampton live in low income families. 45% of children in Woolston and Redbridge live in households classified deprived.

Only 3.5percent of work aged people in Southampton are unemployed.

So, we live in a society where people are working and trying their best, but still have nothing. What have the Tories done to fix this? Have they improved the quality of education to enable socio-economic progress? Have they improved the quality of health to level the playing field for increased ill health in the poor?

The Tory party broke half their manifesto pledges already. The Institute for Government went so far as to criticise a manifesto which COULD NOT be achieved as many points contradicted each other. It has utterly failed on taxation and on the NHS. Public services are still on strike.

Labour is not my party anymore. They are too like the Tories. But Keir Starmer’s party has pledged to improve education as a priority. That is one of the biggest obstacles to social mobility in our society. It would help those 22.2% of kids in Southampton who have little hope in their lives. They have also promised to improve the NHS. Seeing as the tories have failed on this, why not let them try?

There is no legitimate reason to vote Tory if you care about Southampton’s children.

Since that fateful day when a far too narrow majority led to negotiations resulting in spaffer's oven ready deal has caused the ****ed up situation the UK finds itself in. The country is widely regarded as a joke having gone from a position of influential respect to that of a disregarded bit player. Any party that rejects closer ties to the EU by joining the customs union and single market isn't worth considering. Lets add electoral reform to the wish list along with the abolition of the house of lords.

You’re pretty much shouting into the void tbh. Almost everyone thinks that change is needed.

The problem is that Labour/Keir Starmer aren’t really offering a valid alternative.

Many people will continue voting Tory just to keep labour out. Sad reality is that no one in the UK likes higher taxes and their money being dished out to everyone else but themselves.

But voting for a certain political party doesn’t make someone racist or morally bankrupt.

I agree with a lot of this - there are those that will never vote labour in just because it is labour. Then there are those who think Labour = higher taxes and more handouts. Not necessarily true, but it is the perception that needs to be changed. Is Sir Kier the man, not so sure. Maybe.

Voting Tory won't make you a racist or politically bankrupt, but voting in the 70s for say the National Front would have.

Unfortunately I predict we will see the rise of a real racist party of a similar ilk to the National Front.

There are similar vibes to Weimar Germany going on right now with the high inflation and general decay of society. Historically this generally leads to a rise in nationalism and extreme rhetoric.

When people feel they are being ignored then the extremes become more attractive. Hope I am wrong, but feels likely to me.

And people look for a scapegoat - 'foreigners' or just people that are different seem to get blamed.
