I said probably. Because in all honesty I cannot think of another reason a sane human being would vote for them. Brexit. Keep the foreigners out. What else are they offering? To vote Tory after all they have done just shows they don’t care about anything or anyone. So, on balance, you are probably ———- if you vote Tory. That blank is unlikely to be replaced by compassionate, charitable, kind or open-minded.
Genuinely a ridiculous post and sums up the weird liberal socialist attitude that plagues western society at the moment: It’s a meme but this is genuinely what you and a few others seem to think. Many in this country will never vote for labour as the general history of the Labour Party is seen (rightly or wrongly) as being financially irresponsible, raising taxes and giving money away. OF COURSE there are valid reasons to vote conservative that aren’t racist. You genuinely have fallen for a crazy amount of socialist propaganda to come out with such a statement. Here’s an idea; why don’t you read some books thar are more right leaning? Then you will start to understand why the Conservative Party are still a viable option to many in the country despite all their flaws.
Truly; if you think voting for a political party in the UK of all places makes you a racist, then you have fallen for an incredible amount of propaganda
Actually you should probably learn to read. I said probably. And then I said I cannot see why else anyone would cling to that party after all its lies, its handouts to friends, its racist policies, its lack of care for the people who live among us. And all the righties have got upset but not one has given me an alternative reason to vote Tory. Vote LibDem or Green if you hate Labour. And when you asked me to read a book (I spent 20 years teaching literature after my Politics A Level), all I could picture was this: 'I've gotten to be a terrible pessimist about things. Have you read The Rise of the Colored Empires by this man Goddard? … Well, it's a fine book, and everybody ought to read it. The idea is if we don't look out the white race will be – will be utterly submerged.
Is it a Conservative party when it has adopted Ukip policies? Years ago, Powell.was all but thrown out of the party for his ideas. It seems that the party today is filled with members as extreme as miserable Enoch, while proper Conservatives have left the party - Rory Stewart, Dominic Grieve, Anna Soubry!!
This was going to be my exact next point. I have never been a Tory, but all the ones I could respect - you can add in Ken Clarke and John Major - have left. Not only left but left decrying the ones who are there now. There is no justifiable reason to vote for this shower of ****.
I will not be voting for a party whose sole interest is looking after their mates and a priveliged elite when we desperately need our infrastructure, the NHS and school better funded. While we have high levels of homelessness and such an unequal distribution of income.
So you think all people who want stricter controls on immigration are racist? TBH, as a previous Tory voter (note the word previous please), I'm offended by your stereotypical comments. I turned 18 in 2009, so the 2010 general election was the first one where I could vote. All I knew at that time was a Labour government, first under Blair then Brown. And having studied Economics at college I was unimpressed with Labour's policies. And I grew up in an anti-Blair household - my dad in particular hated him with a passion. So, when the 2010 election came around, I was very anti-Labour and I researched both Tory and Lib Dem policies and decided to vote Tory. And then Corbyn became Labour leader and as he's a massive twat I couldn't vote for him either. It's a totally different story now with Starmer though and how un-voteable the Tories now are.
Honestly, is this selective inability to read spreading? I am not talking about 2010, I am talking about now. Now looking at the Tory party and who is in it and what they represent NOW. Why would you vote for a party that is absolutely morally bankrupt, has ****ed the economy and has destroyed our public services NOW? I can only think of A FEAR OF PROGRESSIVE POLITICS - which may also mean a fear of foreigners. Please explain why you would vote Tory RIGHT NOW? Nobody has done it and everybody keeps crying about something I haven’t said. The Tory party NOW is full of Brexit racists. Why do you want to vote for them? Which of their many success stories are you voting for?
You need to read what I said. The current Tory party absorbed lots of Brexiteers on the back of Brexit and the collapse of Ukip. It is considerably more racist than it was before Brexit. Why would you vote for the Tories TODAY?
That racism is entrenched within just about every facet of our society is undeniable. However, it’s not confined to Tories, or even just to people of a right wing disposition, and I think the simplistic Tory = racist stereotype is a massive mistake. Corbyn was, after all, dismissed from his position because he did nothing to combat antisemitism within the Labour Party. As Ides says above, there are lots of decent Tories who have been excluded from the current iteration of the Tory leadership. The current government are hoping that their racist strategy towards immigrants and asylum seekers will reap rewards in the next election, but this remains to be seen. Meanwhile, shortages of workers in just about every industry suggests we need more immigration rather than less. It’s quite possible that a defeat at the next election will lead to a complete reboot of the Tory Party, with a return to the more traditional One Nation approach led by the Hammond / Soubry / Grieve / Stewart ilk, while the ERG and Patel and Braverman and Gullis and co. regroup in the Reform Party. As for racism in our society, it just needs to be called out and exposed whenever and wherever it arises, whether it’s in the pub or in a political party, left or right. Simply labelling all potential Tory voters as racists is entirely simplistic and mistaken.
Amazing how sensitive all you tories are. I still haven’t had anyone even try to give me a reason why they would vote for this current tory party now. Not one. Not one attempt to justify the outrage. Why would you vote for this current Tory party with its disgusting incumbents and morally bankrupt record of lying to the people?
I don't doubt a lot of racists do vote Tory but there's a difference between saying that and saying the only reason you'd vote Tory right now is if you're a racist.
Because I wouldn't right now so I can't give a reason. But that's down to Partygate, the handling of Covid, the absolutely appalling plan to send asylum seekers to Rwanda amongst other things. But it's not right to imply someone's a racist if they vote Tory in the next election.
So you agree that this utterly unelectable and corrupt party - represented by UKIP candidates - is not a party you could vote for. So what might make someone close their eyes to this moral bankruptcy? I can think of one reason - and it involves the moral bankruptcy of the voting public.
