Think Prigozhin is done as a political force, tbh. He's going into pseudo-exile in Belarus, because he got the weirdest ending: the military/Rosvgardia didn't rally to his side, as he had hoped, but they proved too inept to give him his blaze-of-glory moment, either. Wagner will be broken up now and integrated into the Russian army, or at least stripped of all the really fun toys (the anti-air, the tanks, etc) that allowed them to pull this in the first place.

 

I’d advise him to steer clear of hotel windows. Put it that way.

 

Prigozhin use nukes? What makes you think he’ll have any power or influence now? He’ll sit in Belarus on a big bag of cash, swerving windows. He won’t be directing much in war terms, I wouldn’t imagine.

 

Sounds like he's taking a good corps of loyalists with him to Belarus, so while he'll spend the next few years looking over his shoulder, he'll have a few hundred guys with him at all times to aid with that task.

The problem Prigozhin had is that much of the armed forces hates Wagner, and particularly that they seemed to get resources that the regular army didn't. An army (or VDV) general might have significantly better luck.

 

He will be dead very soon, if the entire thing was real.

At this point you can’t rule anything out. I am even feeling like the whole thing could have been a psyop from Putin & Proghozhin at this point. Was the rebellion even real?

There are many tactical/strategic reasons that they could have cooked up a plot to try and “show” Russian weakness.

The loss of face Putin suffered this weekend makes me lean toward it being a real event, but… who ****ing knows.

 

There’s certainly a possibility it was drummed up by Putin as an excuse to shift his generals out/even pull out of the war. Doubt it though in reality. It *feels* too embarrassing for him, on any number of levels.

 

Yeah.. the fact he hastily left Moscow screams that it was a genuine threat.

But… he is such a meticulous operator that he could easily have cooked up the “escape”.

Very strange all round. The biggest disappointment is that we seem no closer to peace whatsoever now.

 

Need to see how it all plays out over next week or so. We might be. He might pull his resources back in to protect himself.

 

Have to imagine that it'll do a number on already rock-bottom morale. The Russian security apparatus was made to look foolish, and the guy who did it simply walked away. Wagner was also cheered by the populace in Rostov:



It won't end the war unfortunately, but this might not be the last mutiny, especially as conditions for the troops in Ukraine continue to worsen.

Of course the big question here is, who are this 25% of the electorate still intending to vote Tory? What's going on with them?

 

It’s a team sport for many.

Voting for the Tories is like supporting Saints to them and even though they might be unhappy they will never change allegiance.

At most they will call for a change of manager (leader) or they won’t vote (not buy a season ticket).

Honestly, someone could vote Monster Raving Loony Party and I would be fine. There is currently no morally justifiable reason to vote Tory. There just isn’t. Except selfishness. If you think selfishly standing up for your own personal wealth is morally justifiable. I don’t.

 

I don’t disagree with this, but saying anyone who votes Tory is a racist is pretty dumb.

If I were to vote Tory at the next GE - you think that I am a racist?

There will be loads of people voting Tory who are not actually white.
