What makes me say that? Neither of them have a manager, both are losing a high number of players, in Leicester's case largely for free, and will have to bring in an almost entirely new XI.

If they sell Barnes and Maddison for 50m each, then they can really invest in their side, I think they will be there or thereabouts come the end of the year

We say most years that the 3 relegated clubs will probably be right up there and it’s never normally the case. Also it’s usually the ones people don’t think too much of that get an instant return. That said, Leicesters infrastructure and resources are now so far from championship standard. Southampton aren’t far off behind. Leeds will be expecting to do well particularly if this takeover goes through then there Norwich, West Brom, Watford and Boro who will all feel like they should be up there.

Probably going to be the strongest championship ever.

I don't think they'll get that much for each, and while that will help, they have a huge wage bill they have to manage.

I suspect they'll get around £80m for the pair.

Given the financial issues they've had it'll be interesting to see if they get that much and how much gets reinvested.

I seem to remember ST saying that we won't be making any "Blow your socks off" signings this window - instead we will sign some good solid pro's who will do a job for us. Meantime, I'm glad we've tied Vaughan to a new contract. He's looked promising so far and better to sign him up now or regret it later when he improves further and other clubs come sniffing

    They soon will have (managers).

Leicester have 'lost' only 5 (let go or contract ended. Perez had already gone in effect). Plenty of players left who are too good for Championship or else would command decent money. Owner converted nearly £200 mill of debt to equity this year and is quoted as one of the richest sports club owners in the world who will likely want to put right last season's wrongs (not least for the memory of his father so to speak). Massive investment already made into the club infrastructure. I'd be amazed if they struggle.

Leeds, only 3 players left to date!! only 1 of which I guess fans might be bothered about. Owners worth est. over £4 billion. I think that, unfortunately, they'll be just fine, especially if they can hang on to players like Harrison and build around him.

Add in parachute payments at ever higher levels.

Others already mentioned about Southampton as supposedly the strongest of the 3.

I wasn't talking about Southampton in the above post, I've already said they will be the strongest.

As said, Everton and West Ham would have been far stronger had they come down.

Sorry to mention FFP, but is it safe to assume that they have massive headroom? I don’t know what their losses are, but do they carry over from the Premier League to the EFL? I imagine this year they’ll have made some pretty significant ones.

You get extra allowance dropping down but you still have a cap. Can't remember the exact number but they've been in a world of pain in the PL so can't imagine they can suddenly splash the cash around.

Neither was I. I'd left that with what others had already said.

I was correcting and questionning further what you were saying about Leeds and Leicester.

-> "The quality? Leeds and Leicester are a complete mess and Soton are going to have a huge turnover. Could be a Burnley, could be a Stoke"
-> "Neither of them have a manager, both are losing a high number of players, in Leicester's case largely for free, and will have to bring in an almost entirely new XI.

I could be wrong but I recall reading that certain things dont count against FFP like long term contracted players. I certainly know this is the case from championship to league 1

That's not one of them (unless you mean the concept of amortising a playing contract over a long term deal), but investment in infrastructure and women/youth teams gets discounted for FFP purposes, but if Leicester were struggling with FFP in the PL they aren't now suddenly in a better position. If anything they're much worse with the drop in income.

Good point. I always call it France, seen as that is the name of the country in both French and English.

There used to be a rule in EFL's FFP were a 4 year contract signed the previous year wasn't accounted for in FFP if you were relegated but after looking it does appear to be gone
