Even if it isn’t, there have always been quirky kids who think they’re an animal or George Best or Elvis. It’s just another nonsense culture war brought up at a convenient time for right wing media.
For me, it’s more about the ability of the media to manipulate and use wording that hints that things happen, while making the masses think things actually DID happen. Very clever usage of words like “it’s been reported” or “it’s been alleged”…the ****s do it all the time. For example, the “Agincourt V Sign Myth”, is often reported as absolute fact by the press, so much so that to many it’s become an absolute fact…. It all just seems a bit “1984” to me
Plenty of talk in the newspapers of the rise in theft of high value cars, easily taken because they use a keyless system to start, and criminals can relay the system from the fob in the house to the car. So mostly caused because car manufacturers feel wealthy owners won't have the energy to put a key into the ignition. And we're all paying for losses through our motor insurance. Personally, I'd never buy a Keyless Go car, and the sooner the system is abandoned, the better.
Thieves can steal a car and have it abroad before the owners wake up and report it missing. Prevention is better than cure.
If stolen cars are removed from the UK jurisdiction before owners report them missing, how do more police help on this issue?
If you make the likelihood of being caught and prosecuted higher you reduce the incentive to commit the crime. You could also toughen sentences but the prison system is also broken so that’s probably not an option.
Just pretend that the Porsches, Mercedes and Rolls Royces self identify as Skodas, Morris Minors and Trabants….then problem solved as no one would want to steal them
