Not if it's territory conveniently moves itself every other month, then it's battered every single habitat around it and eating their kids.
It's a good analogy, but for completely the opposite reason... The more you can learn about bears and how they behave, the less likely you will be to have a negative encounter or misinterpret interactions. Bears are predictable. If you learn more about bears and how to interpret their behaviour, you will be able to react appropriately when you see them and avoid a negative encounter. Bears have a “critical space” – an area around them that they may defend. Once you have entered a bear’s critical space, you have forced the bear to act – either to run away or be aggressive. The size of the critical space is different for every bear and every situation.
To be fair, we’ve kept out of this war for about 8 years. Don’t forget it’s been going on since 2014.
You know, Ukraine is a sovereign country. It can make whatever decisions it likes on the world stage, you can't just blow up apartment blocks full of families cos you don't like who they've started chatting too. There's apparently a new narrative on here, mostly from @Treble which is indicating that the entire sphere of eastern Europe inherently belongs to Russia and we can't even deal with countries AROUND Russia, even if they have their own elected parliaments and leaders. Because Russia will feel threatened and it's then our fault that they bombed apartment blocks. A reminder, Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014. The West has not invaded Russia.
That's fair enough mate, not saying you are wrong, I just have a different view of the world, one that don't really have much time for America, and I would add the EU and NATO to that list. I'm certainly no fan of federalism, but I was born into a world where it existed and maybe I just have some respect to boundaries I was born into, not to new boundaries that the west would like to see or ones that Europe may wish to create. The west has always been anti China or anti Russian when it spits it's dummy out - I just prefer to sit on the fence, it's not my fight. That don't mean I want to see the bear run amok, somehow Ukraine and Russia will have to agree on something, either that or fight to the death, and a lot of dead Ukranians I'd prefer not to see off the back of one man, because as far as I remember history, the USSR existed and Biden when he was decades younger medled in the politics of Ukraine, to suit western goals. I'm off to bed now mate lol.
Think you will find it was more the NATO (American) military installations getting ever nearer that made Russia feel threatened. Remember what happened when Russia tried to place some missiles in a friendly country close to them? Cuba.
Go on? You know those countries, who have elected parliaments, leaders, and such that was mentioned? You know those countries OK'd those installations right? Like, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania? Who were so nervous about Russian aggression and migration that wanted in with NATO? Or, like, you know Poland? And now Sweden and Finland? Which previously didn't have American bases in them? Or Georgia, which was already fighting a Russian instigated civil war BEFORE it requested Nato membership?
You know Fidel allowed Russia to put missiles in his country right? Very similar situations my friend, one super power trying to install millitary equipment as close to it's perceived enemy as possible, none of them liked it.
So, the point here is that in the 1960s, the US and Russia justified placing warheads near one another due to growing tensions, decided they wouldn't bother killing each other and backed down. Both sides removing said weapons. And that is a similar situation to the US building an airbase in Estonia so Russia launching a full scale invasion of a country, displacing millions and killing hundreds of thousands, sending masses of conscripts to certain death and threatening global grain supplies. All against the wishes of her allies and supporters, who en masse, turned against them and denounced their actions? Including eastern nations NOT in NATO. Because, something something, West bad bad bad **** bald eagles.
No. Back in the early 60s missiles really needed to be based comparitively close to target to be effective, now that is not the case but building military bases with foot soldiers and aircraft really close to youre rival is seen as threatening. Putin has seen this as a threat and his meglomaniac mind has seen it as a good reason to anex Ukrain (trying to restore the old USSR). I am not in any way condoning this, just trying to give a reason for why it's happened.
I know the reasons can be pulled out of any arse you like, I just don't particularly see any point in it. I could say "all immigrants should be expelled. Reason? The sack of Rome." It's complete bollocks. He wanted to invade Ukraine, he's always wanted too. We are his scapegoat, that's fine n nice for him. But people here buying into it and accepting he has some perverted point is mad. He called us a "Little island" when Cameron was PM. Now this little island is giving some big bombs to people and his peeps are turning into bloody smudges
Yeah, I referred to that as bollocks Or perhaps the bit above that, or perhaps the bit below that. If that was there
I'll be very interested to see the discourse when Israel next invades Palestinian land Cos Russia and Israel use the exact same reasons and excuses. please log in to view this image
Yeah Trebs rages about that. Says nobody gives a **** about what Israel does but everybody feels sorry for those poor Ukrainians. I think that's where his beef with Ukraine comes from.
