Me too mate, really positive about semedo too would love him to hit the ground running, the French lad linked yesterday while I’m taking the rumour with a pinch of salt looks a good finisher and grafts his arse off in the clips I’ve seen

Clarke and Roberts signing extensions would be a real statement of intent imo. A clear indication that we are going for it.

Id like to see Patto rewarded with a new contract / pay rise as well if im being greedy

Roberts needs to sign a new deal - all this focus on Stewart’s contract has meant that one has sort of gone under the radar.

Both only have 1 year left. O’Nien too I think.

Massive risk going to January without a deal for him.

He is settled here but as his confidence and love for the game returns he’s gonna want to go back to the PL, we need to reward him, and make sure that’s with us.

At the very least we want to guarantee a fee that reflects his ability. That’s a big, big fee.

If Patterson gets a new one he would have signed a new one every June for last 3 years iirc?

Patterson would be a big statement of intent from the club to the young players on the squad and especially the kids looking to come through from the academy. Do well here and improve to the next level and we will reward you financially it, regardless of how new your last contract is.

Based on the Cirkin and Hemir news at weekend, and Magnus' post above - I'm going to predict at 9:55 we get a tweet from the club with a goalkeeper glove and a pen ; followed by a smiling face of Patto and Speakman at 10:00.

I think that’s really important and precisely why the club will do it.

For all we have seen of young lads coming along nicely, Patto is the poster boy of it.

Recalled from a non league loan, chucked in deep end, and now in the England setup all in 2.5 years.

The lads trajectory has been spectacular and is ongoing.

Patterson isn't my priority to get a new contract as has plenty of time left, and Roberts, Stewart etc are more time pressing. But that said, it's a wonderful message to send these young players that if you keep progressing you will be getting a payrise every year. We aren't going to stick to contracts and say "sorry mate" you signed this last year.

Makes us attractive again for young players.

Think folk really need to temper expectations with this lad. He's played half a season of professional football managing 1 goal in 10 in the Portuguese second tier, which is a pretty poor standard.

He's a good prospect for sure, but that's all he is right now.

That’s the value of a deal for Patto ‘you can grow with us on and off the park’

    That’s a massive thing.

To be fair, we can point to Hugill, Pye and Stephenson who made that move and haven't really made any impact at 19. I'm not naive like, I know they'll have been well compensated, but under our current regime they'd have been given every opportunity to play 1st team football.

I think people are being abit harsh on Stewart mind. He's our best goalscorer and argaubly along with Clarke our most important player, it's imperative we get him a new deal I think as he will be very difficult to replace.

New deals for Patto, Clarke, Stewart and Roberts would be immense.

Everything seems to be positive at S.A.F.C. and with new signings and new contracts at the forefront, Rod (yes, Rod) Stewart surely must be seeing this and thinking 'I definitely want to be a part of this' :emoticon-0112-wonde

You would like to think so, but maybe his agent has managed to get into his head enough regarding money to think "its my last big contract and last chance to make real set for life money"

His injury in January have put the club and him in an impossible situation. I cant see a club risking buying him until he has proved to have recovered fully from his injury so hes probably got another 6 months on a contract with "low wages" and we wont get anywhere near the sort of fee we should if he was fit and had longer than a year left.
