I didn't realize you were that old mate lol. It makes me feel better that I'm not the only person getting older
Aye. Sunday off must have completely changed the captain's thinking at times. More rest for bowlers, injuries getting a bit of time, a knock for a batsman etc. I think I was actually at the last Test in England which had a rest day. Against India, maybe 1996. There might have been more, not sure. I went down on the Sunday, stayed with a mate and watched the Monday. Bore draw from memory!
“Office” moved into the sitting room for all live cricket days over the coming weeks!! Love the ashes
Thoughts on tomorrow? The bairn reckons we will bowl if we win the toss then chase them down. I really hope Stokes is fit to bowl properly.
Stokes is a machine. Watched him at Durham a few years ago, he dived to save a four, just missed it, but, without looking, picked the ball up and nonchalantly threw it underarm harder than I could ever throw a ball!!! And it dropped into the keepers gloves right above the stumps! If he can bowl, we won’t miss Archer as much! Big if though
I really hope he is fully fit for tomorrow mate. We are through Durham watching the blast game tomorrow night. Hopefully England do the business first.
Hope so mate. Durham have a class top 4 or 5 to smack it all over the shop. Hopefully they do it tomorrow.
I'm sure he'll bowl a bit. But short of a long lay off to get fixed, even if that is actually possible, I doubt we'll see the old Ben bowling again. Love to be wrong mind, and this bloke is different to others, so you never know. But a pity about Joffra really. He had them badly spooked.
I DID start watching cricket at a very young age. Been obsessed with the game since I could walk. Shame I was never any good at it
I remember watching the ashes live on Channel 4 in 85/86 when we were playing in Australia. We won the Ashes then for what turned out to be the last time for nearly 20 years. Id left school by then and wasn't yet working so stayed up all night every night. I also remember after that listening to Ashes in Australia (probs 4 years later) on the radio all night lol
Nervous as I always am at the start of The Ashes. Just hoping for a better start than the last series down under. Settled down to watch the first session, knowing the morning after would be a killer. Saw Burns bowled 1st ball, went to bed.
Spent many, many nights listening to TMS on my walkman as I slept. Used to HOLD the ceefax page with the score on, then refresh when I woke up to see what fresh hell had occurred overnight. Remember having a terrible signal on my TV at uni and joking one morning - "bloody hell, the signal is so bad it looks like it says 27/5...............oh!"
