They have enough to spend £20m on a player if they want to have any hope of staying up.

Thing is, Tella wasn't the only player Burnley had on loan. They are apparently just as keen to sign the other two. Maartsen will cost 20m, so might Harwood-Bellis. That's 60m there. Burnley were never big spenders even when in the Prem before.

Said it multiple times before but because of the clauses City have on him, any less than £50m for Lavia and the transfer doesn't make economic sense, we might as well wait for City to come back for him later on.

Would sort of agree, but that's on the presumption that City would be wanting to come back in for him, which is a long way from certain.

Recognising the negative comments often made about him, and that it would have helped if he had scored more etc etc, I wish him the best for the future. Clearly with his fellow teammates he has a persona and willingness to support the Club in the community that made him popular with them.

When he first returned from loan at Celtic, the most popular response was that it was like having a new signing. He was really good to begin with.

I think the stats eventually counted against him with a shockingly poor return on goals and assists. I think he was one of those players coaches see something in that is not immediately apparent to the often more basic knowledge of the supporters. It seems odd that he was singled out this season by the supporters when so many of the squad under-whelmed. Not quite sure how Stuart Armstrong escape the abuse. Maybe he was lucky enough not to be picked too regularly as I felt he has been poor too.

The fact that he was offered and rejected a new contract is pretty telling on the part of Sports Republic. The fiasco with Russell Martin is not the only thing this summer that SR appear to be getting wrong. Difficult to see why so many Saints fans think that 2023/24 will be better this season . I am really sceptical about SR's judgement calls which are worrying poor.
