Harry & Milandric due to stand trial on 2 counts each of tax evasion starting 23 Jan 2012...expected to last 2 weeks...
Poor old 'Arry............could this spell the beginning of the end for "The Man with the Melting Face"?
tweets from jamie redknapp Statement from Dad; "Perry Mason is a 'triffic lad, but he's someone else's defense attorney". To cheer Dad up, we've bought him some new golf clubs. His old clubs have now gone into administration.
Pleased to see that this matter it finally reaching it's culmination - I believe that the initial arrests were made in December 2007, so this has been a long time coming albeit tax avoidance cases like this are extremely difficult to deal with. If I am correct, I think it is these kinds of cases where jurys are not necessairly used. I am sure that there is someone on this board who will be able to clarify this matter. I must admit that I think Redknapp has had this coming for a long while. Regardless of his genuine success at Portsmouth where he introduced the highest quality of football played at that club since the 1950's and his dire period in charge of the Saints, in these instances I feel that tribal prejudices need to be put aside. Hopefully the footballers, press and fans calling for Redknapp to be appointed Capello's successor will find that this option is now untenable. There has been plenty in the press of the last 9 months regarding corruption in FIFA and the culture of bribery which has grown under Sepp Blater. I would suggest that it would be extremely difficult for the FA to make criticism of the financial mismangement of football's governing body whilst having Redknapp, who is under inbvestigation for tax evasion, as the national coach. Just desserts in my opinion.
------- errr, tongue in cheek there Easter Road. I see you are in Peterculter - I`m just along the road in Milltimber. I`ve no time for Redknapp, took my beloved Saints down. Couldn`t buy success like he usually does.
Aye i was alluding to Rangers. Good to have another sheepie on board, if you are. Milltimber nice place.
He won't go down or anything! It's ridiculous! If it were any ordinary person then we'd be sent down but because he is rolling in it they'll give him a slight telling off...!!!!!
Lester Piggott...Ken Dodd...This is a high profile case where justice has got to be seen to have been done if found guilty. Not sure if there are conspiracy charges added, which could increase any sentencing, as Piggott/Dodd stood alone..
Yep, indigenous sheepie thanks !. Saints fan since 1975, when I lived in Soton for 3 years. Got my tickets for Saints v Pompey, Reading and Coventry at end of season - can`t wait ! You a Hibs fan then - who is next after Calderwood ?
anyone beginning to think someone doesnt want him to get the england job? or is this a way of clearing it up, so he gets the england job? personally dont rate him as a manager
that puts the england job to ruin doesnt it they dont employe crooks!i wonder if he do the twitch in court
No a confirmed sheep botherer. Title win at Easter Road which I was at. I see John Robertson is interested in Hibees.
I wasn`t there, but recall Fergie breaking 10 secs for the 100m at FT. Don`t know how the Hibs faithful would take to ex-Heart Robbo. How I`d love to be on the jury (if there was one) for Redknapp`s trial -I`d have him off to jail quicker than he could pick up a brown envelope.
Ginger Thanks for conjuring up that picture - made my afternoon! Picking up with the comment from the "Fan with no name", I don't think there is any sort of conspiracy theory at all . This has been long over due (about 4 years since the charges against Redknapp were first made and probably at least a further six month on from that when he was collared by the rather ineffectual "Panorama" documentary.) If anything, Redknapp has been fortunate that it has taken this long to be able to bring him to court. The truth would always have come out eventually. I can't see him avoiding attention for tax avoidance or the alleged kick backs from transfer fees with so much of football finance under the spotlight. There has always been corruption in the game (I think the first "football scandal" involved Preston North End in the 1880's) but it is clear that it is being tolerated less and less. Given the prestige that comes with international football and the sordid revelations that beset FIFA earlier this year, Redknapp cannot be a serious option even if he is proved innocent. Personally, I think that he is probably not as highly rates outside London as he is in the capital where the red-top media seem to be in thrall of his ability to resurrect Spurs. The interesting thing will be the reaction of the Tottenham board should Redknapp be unable to demonstrate his innocence. In the light of the investigations that were already on going when he was appointed, you would have to question the wisdom of the board at White Hart Lane.
