People use the American sports or rugby as an argument and that's nonsense. It's all great having a break when you check the score in a game that has a score like 50 - 59 but when that one goal gives you a win or salvages a point it simply does not work.
I like the way rugby does it ... but it does require the ref being miked up so the crowd can appreciate what is going on ... "Onfield decision is a try ... but can we check the grounding and also whether there was a forward pass in the build-up?" ... footage then shown on screens ... "grounding fine ... no forward pass ... stick with your onfield decision" ... crowd has seen it and understood it ... everybody happy
I don't like City's success for obvious reasons bcos they're our rivals but I'm not fussed about the financial side of it at all tbh. Way I see it, it's just another challenge you have to overcome if you want to be the best. What matters is how well your own club is run and how good your own manager is. Truth is we've been nowhere near good enough on both counts, and compared to City neither has any other club. I hate to say it but City are doing what they are bcos they're a well run club with a top manager working in sync. The challenge is the same as Chelsea under Jose in his prime. Ppl forget, during 2004-2006 when Chelsea went 5 pts clear in October, it was pretty much a given no one would catch them. The only way to overcome that 'raising of the bar' was for us to raise ourselves. It's also why I don't count on arsenal or anyone else to do it. If I don't want City at the top I'm relying on my club to knock them off their perch. And if we can't then the problems lies there nowhere else.
Correct, you can have all the money in the world but if you spend it on the wrong manager or he spends it on the wrong players you will get nowhere. All about making the right decisions rather than how much money you have.
The money helps mate, there's no getting away from that. It gives you the choice to fck it up or not. My point is I don't give a flying fck how much money another club has. It's all about what my club is doing to overcome every other one regardless. If all I wanted to do was cry about what other clubs are doing I'd become a Livpl fan.
This is the real killer imo, a goal isn't a goal until its been rubber stamped by VAR. There's loads of other problems with it but that's the main one that I'll never be able to get past and something they'll never improve as they seem to be against time limits. Quite funny yesterday how many people I heard say "I was all for VAR originally but it's certainly something I won't miss next season" Ours wasn't even offside ffs. Still persevering with that mm accuracy ****e when the tech isn't that accurate. Anyway, fingers crossed I get at least one season without it.
They’d need to be proper consultation and time to allow VAR to be installed at all the stadiums. I really can’t see it happening.
There was talk of rushing through a stripped back version last summer where less cameras etc are needed and think they wouldn't have the offside line tech either if I remember rightly.
Tbh, Sucky is the only Liverpool fan that I know who has a deep hatred for Pep and City. All the scousers that support Liverpool around here don't give a flying fck about them, whether they win the league or not. They hate Everton and Man Utd with a passion but City are just another club to them and pretty much irrelevant.
I dont remember it, but hopefully we don't have anything like it anytime soon. Its great still being able to celebrate a goal as soon as the ball hits the nets.
I usually just laugh at other clubs tbh. Yeh there's rivalry but how much money they have or where they got it from doesn't bother me. Neither do refereeing decisions, pens not given, players not getting sent off or any of that bollox. Pathetic that managers like Klopp who cry about it after matches, like somehow they can't win without it.
City are quite irrelevant as a club to me but I can’t help but observe that they were dogshit probably relegation candidates before the Arabs decided to use them as a sport washing project Same with Chelsea(not the relegation) and now with Newcastle(relegation candidates) Its a fact people still concentrating on their own clubs though you’ll see more posts about me criticising my own club than anyone else’s…however I’m bound to notice what has happened…especially when in the foreseeable all 3 will occupy a CL spot…leaving one for the rest. I can make that observation whilst still concentrating on my own club but to suggest that everyone should ignore that and just concentrate on their own clubs like Trebs suggests is absurd. Its an observation well worthy of a conversation…in the mean time I shall concentrate on my own club see both can be achieved
Think you are looking at it the wrong way It’s a goal till they chalk it off so **** it - celebrate it if it gets chalked off so what - rewind your celebration lmao
