It's being worked on, taking the year option just keeps him from being released and gives us and him security over summer/while the deal gets finalised
I get that but either let him have the security of a longer contract or release him to get one somewhere else
We are interested, but it's not a cheap deal, lots of moving parts would need to fall into place. Darlow also has a contract with Newcastle till 2025 on approx 27k a week, which I'm not sure he's willing to walk away from.
Yeah I can see that, might be one of them where if a replacement comes in he could be sold? Even a year down the line I’m sure he’d get a bottom champ/top league 1 gig
Not really. Whiteman was 24 and by far the best player in League 1. He’s just got better since playing in the Championship. Dougall is a 30-year-old League 1 journeyman who has struggled in the Championship.
Nothing wrong with that, he’s an aspirational signing for a top league 1 side and they can pay decent fees
What's the deal with this one. Did he not want to sign or did we release him? Thought he was meant to be one of our best prospects, if a little lightweight.
Coyle getting a one-year extension is fine. If both he and the club want to sign a longer contract, that’s even better.
Couldn't agree terms and the forward positions are where our budget will be spent, so they couldn't guarantee him a pathway this season. Shame, he is a decent prospect.
He wasn't being played in his best position and he wasn't happy about being loaned out to far away clubs only to find himself not in the squad because the manager favoured local players. There's a lot going on there, but basically he wasn't happy and didn't want to stay.
