The way he's batting at the moment does make our first innings even more of an "if only". Holland, Fuller and Abbott all throwing away their wickets. That by itself was frustrating, given that they can all bat. But even more so when they had Vince at the other end. We'll never know how many more runs he might have scored.
Just been studying the batting stats, given that we are now a quarter of the way through the competition. Vince and Gubbins are the stand-outs - the 6th and 8th highest run-scorers in D1 right now, with Vince having the 3rd highest average. Then quite a big drop down to Fletcha and Brown, who have very similar records (runs, averages, and strike rates). Then a bit of another drop, down to Holland, Fuller and Barker. And then at the bottom of the pile (ignoring Abbas) is Dawson (averaging 10), Organ (averaging 8), Abbott (averaging 5), and Prest (averaging 2). That's horrendous. Just having one of those averages within our XI isn't good, but to have three or four of them every game... Organ needs to dropped, Prest hasn't worked, and Dawson needs to find some runs quickly. For what little it is worth, in the recent 2nd XI game, Weatherley scored 22 and 123 and Albert scored 231 and 63. Donald however only managed 14 and 12.
Organ left out of the squad for tomorrow. I can only assume Holland will move back up to open with, if fit, Barker coming back in. If Barker isn't fit then Weatherley definitely comes in as we've named a 12 man squad.
You've got to feel slightly hard done by if you're Toby Albert; making a double-century and other good scores but Joe gets added to the squad ahead of you. Weatherley has made a hundred in the 2s this year as well, to be fair to him.
Interesting that Prest retains his place in the squad, given that he's playing in the 2nd XI game (finished today 85*). Either he won't get the chance to complete his century tomorrow, or we're not intending to retain him in the first team tomorrow.
Hmm, think Muyeye can consider himself a touch unlucky to be given out there. Looked like it could have been going over.
What a ball. Evison cleaned up by an absolute beauty from Fuller. I can't really blame him for leaving it such was the movement on that delivery.
Famous last words, but that wicket should ensure that Kent don't escape and get themselves up to something half-respectable.
