have you looked his career tho? His early career was basically Bolton and that was 20 years ago. Since Wham he hasn’t lasted more than a year at any of the 5 jobs he had.

I think what I am saying is time has moved on. His day is done, his recent record shows he hasn’t got much to offer a club and people have long memories for the short list of good stuff and short ones for his long list of failures.
I don't remember his music career, did he leave Wham before they made it big?

You’re probably correct. Desperation makes you do silly things.

Do you think Saints could go for Andrew Ridgeley?

We went for him Last Christmas apparently. He said there were too many Young Guns in our team and he wouldn't have the Freedom to play, especially on set pieces as he was keen to try A Different Corner. He really thought I'm your Man and he could Take us To The Edge of Heaven, but it was not to be. A bit of a Wham Rap.

I would have been annoyed, because after poch, Koeman, Puel and Ralph it would have been a negative move. But I would have understood what they were trying to do and why.

After pelligrino we had Hughes, who wasn’t very exciting. But he steadied the ship and kept us up that season.

Staying up was something that happened to Hughes that season. I think keeping us up is too active a phrase. Very lucky in that match against Swansea - Gabbiadini did more to keep us up than Hughes. That's why the club should have cut ties as soon as we survived. Think he only oversaw a handful of wins in his tenure.

Hughes win percentage was 18.5%. Selles is currently 15%, so not much in it.

edit: Hughes got 10 draws and 12 losses. Selles has 3 draws and 8 losses.

Hughes got 25pts in 27 games, Selles has 9 points in 13 games.

Hughes probably had a better squad though.

Sadly Selles just doesn't have the experience we need!! Add to that the players we have are just not experienced enough for the premier, with few exceptions. We will need a couple more fully experienced players to get the team going in the right direction. Should be a more exciting season next year when we are in the championship especially if we get the right manager and the experienced players. However will the management put the right kind of money into the club. Sorry to say I don't think so........we will see.

Fair enough and I think most of us are sick of the same old. But nobody jumped for joy when Bree ran out, nobody has seen anything from Onuachu apart from being 6 inches taller than everyone else. How you can see the limitations of the squad but not be happy with the team selection I don’t understand. He’s been slated for replacing Lavia with Diallo but there’s no other DM. He’s been slated for picking AArmstrong but who else is there? I don’t see that he is picking awful sides, he’s lumbered with awful forwards and a lightweight midfield. And a captain who inspires nothing, creates nothing, delivers nothing.

I’m not claiming he’s anything special but I am saying Unai Emery would struggle to get goals out of this lot.

The continued selection of Adam Armstrong is totally baffling. I agree that Selles could have tried introducing a number of players who have not had the chance to shine, especially as Armstrong has been given so many chances over two seasons and never looks like scoring. Selles should bury the hatchet with Orsic and give him a go as he have a provne track record. I feel Edosie has been unfortunate too. My impression is that Selles has a core of players he trusts and he has no faith in those outside that group. Unfortunately, none of these players seem to know where the goal is and it is unfortunate that Adam Armstrong has shown he is never going to improve or cut it at this level. I am far from convinced he is good enough for the Championsip either.

I agree he hasn't done much for us but this would suggest he would be ok in the Championship:

Adam Armstrong has been named in the PFA's Championship Team of the Year for 2020-21.

The hitman thumped home a career-best 28 league goals during the campaign, which included hat-tricks against Wycombe Wanderers, Huddersfield Town and Birmingham City.

I am surprised by these statistics as the way in never seems to run in the right positions in the opposition's penalty box issuggestive to me that he does not have a good footballing brain. I am struggling to recall a less effective forward who has been given so many chances by Saints.

In previous season we have been successful in stealing a Celtic player or two off of The Hoops, so this time why don't we steal their manager Ange Postecoglou off of them instead. If Sport Republic had any ambition they would make Postecoglou an offer he can't refuse. Knowing Rasmus though, we will probably end up with Alan Curbishley.

No, it will probably be someone like the Plymouth manager

Isn’t the ‘Saints Playbook’ all about 4-2-2-2, and how we played (at times) under Ralph?

If so and we stick to that, then presumably we would be looking for a manager who is experienced with that system. Unless Rasmus creates volume 2 <laugh>

I don’t understand why people are still speaking as if SR are financially tight, they really really aren’t. They have spent way above what we could possibly have expected since coming in.

The problem is how they spend the money.
