Anyway, in the departure lounge at Palma. Straight through, no bother, and used the fast lane passport automatic gates.

    Bloody Brexit.

Very well put. There is a book coming out this week which I plan to read about the economic decline of this country over the last 50 years. That takes us from Wilson and Callaghan, through Thatcher and Blair, to the current govt. I am interested to read how the economy has been worsened throughout the period, whoever the govt have been. I am pretty sure it will be quite well argued. The tories and labour each claim to be better at running the economy. There is plenty of evidence over 50 years they both get things wrong. Why then do we still as voters keep on choosing those the parties have failed in the past.

It's absolutely insane that we're fed the idea that we have an Energy crisis caused by the war in Ukraine and the narrative is just accepted without being challenged.

BP, Shell, Total and Centrica have all recorded huge profit increases in the last year. Shareholders are making an absolute killing whilst the Government has to use its tax revenue to subsidise the ridiculous price rises so that people don't die.

    Its disgraceful.

I'm sure there are many important issues that aren't always apparent such as investment, future planning, extraction costs, etc. I understand all of that but it's simply unfare that, in 2023 Britain, people can't afford to heat their homes or heat their food.

You could make a charity advert, with old people huddled in blankets, and people in Africa would be sending donations.

The other Sue Gray report due out today.

Expected to show that whiter than white entirely dodginess free Labour were tapping her up.

We are no better than a tin pot African dictatorship. If that scenario actually happened I have no doubt our government would somehow transfer any "donations" to themselves and their old Etonian/Oxbridge friends and family chumocracy network. Only difference being they wouldn't buy tanks and guns with the money. <laugh>

The excuses for the last thirteen years are childish in the extreme.

Even if the opposition parties were rotten to the core it doesn't absolve the Tories of their shameful behaviour.

Those repeating the shameful excuses are worse

I may be looking at it the wrong way but what if the government for every extra £100 they get in extra tax revenue from BP etc only give out £60 of it to the public they still make an extra £40 for themselves and their chums.

Since the various failures of sending in the Navy, declaring illegal immigration illegal, Rwanda, etc ...

... Braverman has finally come up with the fiinal solution.

"The Home Office is planning to use 10 redundant cruise ships, ferries and barges to house asylum seekers in ports around the country, with Liverpool expected to be next in line as ministers struggle to get to grips with the asylum backlog."

So, when she said her and Rishi would 'stop the boats' she must've meant 'let them keep coming and we'll just hide the immigrants'.

    Genius!

That’s my worry about windfall tax . We all contribute to the huge profit, but if some handed back to government, we have no idea what they’ll do with it.
They should be made to drop prices so we underpay for a while , or if lump sum to govt , they should distribute it back to the consumer by dropping some vat or fuel duty for a while
