Me and the Mrs met Len on Hessle road a couple of years ago, he was looking around his old haunts, wouldn’t have a selfie with the wife though, said he wouldn’t do them as they could get him into trouble, not sure what he meant, but nice fella.
Not many singers can have Jamaica Farewell, Mary's Boy Child, Banana Boat song, Island in the sun and there's a hole in the bucket in their repertoire. A quite extraordinary talent and a guy who did a lot of good too.
Sad to hear Peter Martin passed away. I remember seeing him on occasions at the Springfield Club on Anlaby Common in the eighties. He was always one of the better performers both comedy and singing-wise. RIP Peter

wee willie harris, early uk rock'n'roller, 90. sadly, he didn't make the charts. he did manage to make a career out of his act, which included a whole lot of covers of r'n'r songs. judging by recordings on youtube, it sounds like his voice improved (common in the male of the species, apparently) after his heyday years, but the backing also improved when it was no longer provided by "showbiz" musicians with no real feel for rock'n'roll (a common affliction in the fifties). https://www.msn.com/en-gb/entertain...-beatles-inspiration-dies-aged-90/ar-AA1atAYl
Tony Duke - FC player from the past; played hooker through the 70s & 80s; after a replay at Elland Road he was one of the Challenge Cup winners of '82, a one team player he played 216 matches for the black & whites. RIP
The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald is in my all time Top 20. Will mean a lot to many of those of us who have known someone who perished at sea. Does any one know where the love of God goes When the waves turn the minutes to hours? RIP Gordon Lightfoot
