Of legal migrants, by far the largest proportion are from India, often talented, cultured people. Then Nigeria, Ukraine and China. Generally they buy into our culture, respect women, don't want to kill gay people, aren't into organised crime or chasing people with machetes in the street. Contrast with some poor and undeveloped Islamic Middle East countries like Sudan, or Libya or Afghanistan. Of course there is a place for refugees fromThird World in UK, but effective integration is vital, and this won't happen with current, increasing numbers. And there is always a risk of ISIS operators slipping in.
You missed out cannibalism. Europeans are our closest cultural companions, I would say. It's a shame we made them so unwelcome.
They're not unwelcome and can apply for a visa and right to live here like anyone else. They just don't have a legal right to live here.
10 percent is not a small number and it's not a bad idea to keep out cannibals From wherever they come
Have you all noticed how so much land, power and resource grabbing is going on at the moment ( yes by us in the uk too). Everyone is after resources. Some of it is food and water to live by, land, food, a life worth living , a future and for others it is money, money, money....but everyone is after something. I really wonder if everyone, consciously or unconsciously, has realised we are running out of "stuff" and trying to better their lot before it is too late.
Back in the day when I was a student vaguely interested in going to lectures the theory was that innovation would enable the world to keep up with global population growth and factors like climate change. Probably bollocks in reality. Or, more likely, the rich countries will be ok and everyone else can get ****ed.
Geography not your strong point at school Goldie ? When were Sudan and Libya moved to the Middle East ?
I wasn't including Libya, which is why I put a comma. Sudan has at times been considered Middle East, below Egypt and next to Saudi Arabia (across Red Sea). I agree, North Africa would have been better.
Comma or not is meaningless…..and I’ve never known anyone consider Sudan as ‘Middle East’. You must know some really strange people
No lives saved yet...but thankfully already been given a couple, of lovely muffins from the local carehome. Who needs claps
The comma is the only way I could show I didn't include Libya. If you say there was another way, enlighten me. I suggest you look at Wiki on Middle East. America regarded Sudan as Middle East under Eisenhower, and since "Middle East" is a fluid term of an undefined region, Sudan can still be regarded as such. As I say, I guess it would have saved you distress if I had used North Africa.
I’m probably just ignorant and this bloke doesn’t deserve to come back really but it doesn’t sound very fair from our hardworking government fighting tirelessly for its NHS.
A map won't help because "Middle East" is a region, defined variously, not a country. PS are you still distressed, Stainsey?
Distressed at what Goldie ? If you’re talking about my MH demons then yes I probably am….and always will be. If you’re talking about something else then you’ve lost me
