Happy St Totteringham's Day mate. Well deserved

That provides absolutely no consolation at all.
I'm not saying this to sound like a pretentious prick, but after we'd beaten you 2-0 in January, I really wasn't too concerned with what you were doing. Don't get me wrong, I was delighted to beat you on your own turf, as we don't do it often. But all I was mainly focused on the day after the game was whether we had what it takes to win the title. And I started to believe we had in it in us.
As time has gone on, it's become abundantly clear that we're not good enough. Which sounds mental as we're unbeaten in 10 league games and, in
most seasons gone by - even in spite of the 3 consecutive draws - our form would historically be good enough to surmount a title challenge. Regrettably, we're up against a totally different beast and the players have succumbed to the pressure at a crucial stage of the season.
The players' body language on the full-time whistle on Friday night told me all I needed to know. That they are emotionally exhausted, physically spent and, crucially, they don't have the belief they can do it anymore. No amount of post-match sound bites or positive player interviews can disguise the sheer desolation visible on everyone's face.
So finishing ahead of you grants me no comfort when my eyes were on a bigger prize that was firmly in our grasp, yet we've let it slip.
