Not sure if it was the same play but there was Allayhar, Vaughan (I think it was Vaughan from memory) and 2 of theirs in a foot race. Allayhar left them for dead .... but then made a total hash of it when he got to the ball!

What date does the summer transfer window open?

June 10th for domestic transfers. July 1st for international transfers. However, domestic free agents won’t be announced until July 1st at the earliest because most players’ contracts end on June 30th.

The interesting thing about it though is that domestic transfers completed between June 10th and June 30th counts towards this season’s business for FFP. So if we sell Woods or Figueiredo to another English club in that period, it will count as this season’s income and not next season’s, I think.

There’s talk that Chelsea might try to offload several players surplus to requirements to other English clubs between June 10th and June 30th for this reason to try and mitigate against the insane amounts of money they spent in the most recent summer and January transfer windows.

that’s a massive loop hole, can’t believe they have permitted this!!

might be some bargains early on as clubs try to offload quickly!!

I think we sold Honeyman to Millwall on June 28th last summer and George Moncur to Leyton Orient on June 29th. If I’m correct, I think that means they would’ve counted as last season’s income on the accounts and not this season’s.

Chelsea might try to sell Maatsen to Burnley in that June 10th-30th window as well as other players to English clubs if it helps balance their books a bit.

In all honesty, I don’t know why FFP’s set up like this. Should be consistent with the fiscal year April to April.

Most football clubs don’t have an end March year end, they have an accounting year ending June 30th to match the player contracts.

You can't have a football accounting period finishing mid-season, that's just plain daft. As OLM says its all designed to end/start concurrently.

We should be in a position where we're close to 2/3 new faces and have a good understanding of what's happening with Darlow & Connolly.

We need to get players through the door early and we've made a great start with getting Simons done

Yeah correct, just purely down to the nature of clubs' financial years. If your financial year ends 30 June, any business before then will count that year.

Would think Chelses will try to offload Gallagher, Mount, Colwill and a few others.

Now that we're mathematically confirmed in the Championship we need to be offering new deals to those we want to keep, and making plans for those we don't. As you say, we need to be maximising our early business, and you don't want to be stuck in contract negotiations with players which can impact uncertainty around who you need to bring in. Basically just thinking Jones here (and if we want to keep Coyle and/or Elder around).

I'd also hope we've been sounding out interested clubs to offload Figs and Woods.

Rosey said he wasn't aware of anything, but I am sure our scouts will have had a look at him, as they do with a lot of players. So we may well have had a scout there, which is where the story came from, but maybe nothing more than quietly monitoring him. I'm sure not every player we are looking at is reported to Liam, unless they are keen that something should be followed up on.

I think the most interesting to from the retained list are Elder and Doch. I would like to keep Elder but I'm not sure he'll want to stay and play 2nd fiddle, it certainly won't help him get in the Aus side.

Doch is another one where I think it makes sense to keep him, but his minutes in the last few weeks have been reduced and if the expectation is that we bring in a couple more midfielders, it's hard to see him getting much of a sniff.
