Mentioned this before but I remember reading that while Allardyce was here we had some system that monitored the players for signs of fatigue and whatever other sports science words can be used that I don't know. Each day the training team would be aware of players that were a risk of injury etc and reduce and tailor their workload to negate the risk! On top of that they had the cryo thing. Obviously bringing all it together was a good medical team using all this data etc...

We are clearly a world away from thus at the minute but all of that sound like the minimum a professional sports team with players worth millions should be putting in place. Wouldn't buy a Ferrari and take it to Halfords auto centre for a service would ya!

Be interesting to know what percentage of injuries are impact injuries in the match bet its low as its not often these are long term to my limited knowledge?

Last report that Ballard 'might' be fit for the Watford game on 29th... Wonder how far he is away now.

Not that I'd risk him but wouldn't be surprised to see him travel if he's 50/50 for Sunday!

I remember injury prone players playing long spells under Allardyce. Of course some of our injuries are from bad challenges on field that can’t be helped, but I swear I remember reading somewhere that the cryo machine is gone along with some other tech.

Personally thought the world of Strongman is the best place to look for recovery. The things they put themselves through is insane.

Wonder if the club would invest, or have invested, in a hyperbaric chamber to help speed up recovery.

All outsourced now. Payments and needs basis only.

Not very much preventative measures. Something that should change.

Did Martin Bain take it with his coffee machine?

Football is an intense high speed contact game played by athletic men wearing boots. It involves tackling, rapid sudden turns and endless sprints, jumps and changes of direction ...

... it's easy to put the blame on the manager because it can't be disproved and becomes a 'fact'.

At least we can't blame Mowbray for bringing them back from injury too quickly <laugh>

I was confident we could still make playoffs after the Hull game, still believed after Huddersfield, and that was only strengthened by other teams' results on Wednesday.

But now... I'm not so sure. First time this season I've thought it looks unlikely. What a ****ter that it is 100% down to injuries. With a whole season of Stewart, Ballard, Evans, and Batth we'd be pushing for 2nd place right now and noone can convince me otherwise.

Full review of the medical procedures and practices required in the close season. This is ridiculous. We'd need an extra half dozen players next season to maintain any kind of consistency.

Well it looks like that. Not sure what this latest injury is but it really does seem too many to be a coincidence.

We've definitely had a lot of injuries this season, but it's a bit hyperbolic to talk about players being "out for the season" at this point when there's only 18 days left.

Batth has played 42 games this season at 32 years old. I don't think he's a victim of any poor training/recovery approach.

That's fair actually, hadn't looked at it that way.. But the rest of the numbers are a genuine concern.

Embleton has been a big miss too, especially with Evans being out. Worst season I can remember for injuries but I’m putting it down to bad luck…next season we’ll get the rub of the green hopefully
