Yeah, the Besiktas fans absolutely love him, why would he want to come back to the **** he got from our fans?

He also did get a lot of love here tbf! Many of us were sad on here when he left, and said we would miss him.

Almost everyone said letting Romeu go was ridiculous.

Forster I understand going as he was on such a big contract - it wouldn’t have been hard to upgrade on him as there were so many good keepers available. But instead we elected to buy a teenager and throw him under the bus.

I honestly think our new owners don’t understand football at all. They certainly have undervalued ‘mentality’ & ‘experience‘ in their model. So many baffling decisions

No they didn't. You've missed out "without signing a replacement". Letting Oriol go was respecting his wishes which is fair enough but not signing a replacement was the cock up.

Surely nothing highlights how poor our recruitment has been when some can reminisce fondly about the good old days of Nathan Redmond. I suppose his brand of practically zero end product would be a moderate improvement on the actual zero end product we currently deploy, but still.

Don’t think Romeu has any intention of leaving Spain/Catalonia again, he left because he wanted to return home.

Redmond got so much unjustified **** from our fans that I would be surprised if he viewed us fondly enough to return.

Both players we could desperately have done with this year.

Absolutely right. Think we might have missed Redders more than Romeu this season.

Redmond was actually pretty creative, he would have had a decent number of assists if he didn’t have utter dross in front of him.

Elyounoussi on the other hand…

This paragraph from your post is spot on.
“I honestly think our new owners don’t understand football at all. They certainly have undervalued ‘mentality’ & ‘experience‘ in their model. So many baffling decisions”.

In the past we have been open with our recruitment, as in we sell the club as being a stepping stone to a bigger club, but we recruited players who were already established in their team and who were performing to a decent and proven level.
Last summer we recruited too many young players, who weren’t established in the first team, with many of them having zero first team experience. Too many of them weren’t/aren’t ready for first team football at the highest level.
When you add them to a squad that, for the last 2-3 years, has consisted largely of “journeymen”, this season was always going to be a struggle. ***
I think SR fell into the trap of thinking more about the future sell on value of the players than they did about ensuring that we had a core group of better players to ensure that we retained our premier league status.

*** I have been saying for 2-3 years that our squad wasn’t as good as some thought and that it was Ralph’s high pressing style of football that made us look like a half decent team. Stopping the press revealed just how inadequate our players are.

In the spirit of getting rid of things for next season... Manager, half the squad etc, can i add two more that i'd like to banish:

2 - That ****ing slow version of 'Oh When The Saints' that is played before every game. Talk about how not to get the players and crowd worked up for a game. Might as well hand out pipes, cardigans and stick a bit of Val Doonican on, to get people hyped up

Agreed I've had a thing about OWTS for a long time, I'm sure it used to be sung spontaneously and at a quicker tempo years ago. Then, infuriatingly, the spuds highjacked it and slowed the rendition down. our problem is the it takes so long to get it going that we invariably lose pocession of the ball and it embarassling peters out, whereas Spurs (more infuriatingly) often retain the ball/threat for longer and cause the dirge to be more to be sung to its conclusion.

I like the idea of pipes and cardigans but, instead of Val Doonican I would love to see the Albion Band...the target they paraded around provided an excellent opportunity to aim a penny at the hapless guys parading it around the Dell thus venting ones frustrations....them were the days!

Just to add to Saints uselessness they just cancelled all the end of season public games because they have decided it now clashes with stadium maintenance.

A few times I have thought the poor running of the club extends beyond the game itself.

1 - Jo Tessem on Radio Solent - loved him as a player, he gave everything when he played, but Jesus, i can't listen to the guy. It's like nails down the blackboard

Thanks...

Totally agree. As a fanbase we need to get the message out more frequently about this absolute pile of sh*t. The songsters at St. Mary's must go on certain forums, and the more it is written, the better chance they'll take notice. No more slow singing!!

Also, got to say, the exodus of senior players, was more down to Ralph than SR.

We struggle to get the point across about the **** team so I doubt we will have much luck with a song

While we're suggesting targets/players we think the club may/should go after - here's a name that comes to mind, while I remember: Joël Piroe

23 years old, 6ft1 striker, playing for Swansea with just 12 months left on his contract. Swansea not in a very good financial position, either.

Last season: 45 games, 22 goals
This season: 38 games, 16 goals

Apart from pace, he looks like he's got the lot. Some great composed finishing there. Is this as a result of your EFL scouting DTLW? If so, should we tell Wilcox to give you a shout when he's warmed his chair?

A single win gets us back in with the famous 5 (****e) teams at the bottom. Surely some positivity and belief is warranted. I'm not sure this is a lost cause. All 5 teams at the bottom have issues.
