My Mother lives near the Brecon Beacons and they the people haven't been asked. The Beacons are being renamed due to net zero.
I haven't been asked about 300plus homes built on green land next to me and Mrs RP.
Wrote to Jacob and Norris. Net zero didn't count.

Quite right too if Welsh people are encouraged to light fires on the Brecon Beacons by calling it the Brecon Beacons one day thousands of them will get up there and starting burning stuff. The smoke and carbon could block out the sun smash a hole in the ozone layer and kill the earth. Cant be too careful with the Welsh.
There are houses planned to be built not far from me RP that JRM has a financial interest in, maybe the same ones.
At least the Welsh use the same alphabet as across the border. Here in Canada we are going through the same nonsense through the auspices of reconciliation with the First Nations. Try this on for size or even better try and say it or find a keyboard to fit. ᑭᓪᓚᐹᕈᑕᐃᑦ

How many Welsh people actually call it that though ROD? As someone who lives very close to both the Welsh border and the Beacons, I can honestly say, I have never heard it referred to as anything other than the Brecon Beacons.
Of course the Welsh authorities have the right to rename it as they see fit, I just question whether in the cost of living crises, is this the best use of government/council money in all the signage and marketing that comes with the name change?
I fail to understand how changing the name of a place reduces carbon emissions.
If nobody understands the new name, perhaps they won't go, and that will save carbon emissions form vehicles going there..... Who knows!
So hills such as the Brecon Beacons emit carbon, presumably mainly due to plants and trees that thrive on them?
But what has naturally occurring plants and trees have to do with Net Zero virtue signalling ? Or are they going to chop them down as well as renaming the beacons.

It doesn’t. It’s nothing to do with reducing the carbon. The Brecon Beacons is named after the burning of the Brecon creating beacons. So it’s symbolic to stop it referring to the name of the burning
It’s a Welsh national park, so changing it to the Welsh name for it is not hurting anyone. It’s not like they are renaming it anything different.
Regardless of people referring to the name of the Brecon Beacons I am struggling to understand what it has to do with a Bristol City forum
