Coyle 100% isn’t good enough for a possession style, but that’s why he’ll be a deputy to someone who is. You can’t expect 2 similar quality players to play for one spot at our level.
You can if you have prem/parachute income but not realistically on a budget made up from just club turnover plus 13m annual owner investment like most clubs in the champ.
Not sure Oscar is that nailed on. If we were going to free up some kitty then he'd probably the one to command a decent fee - yet only scores in spells with not a lot else in normal play. Not saying he should go, but suspect he might.
You’re maybe right. Won’t fit in Rosie’s style of closing down etc, however we need to score goals and we can’t replace him, so……
It would help if we actually had another fit striker. Notable though that Tetteh was starting ahead of Oscar when he was fit.
I know. 14 goals in the championship should get us a good fee, but given the majority of the time he's having a drought without offering much with his back to goal I just wonder if we might cash in.
I'm not saying we should or shouldn't cash in either way, he's probably our most instinctive finisher but the line from Acun about maybe having to sell to buy then maybe its a case of who will command a worthwhile fee? He's only 1 off his 15. Hopefully hell get it before the season is out. * edit - 2 off his 15.
I respect your opinion but I have to disagree with your and your mates’ assessment against Blackburn, mate. He played very well on Saturday night. I get what you’re saying and if we didn’t have Christie, I’d want us to sign a new right-back but Coyle is fine as back-up in this league.
Great, get Chris Waddle and ‘Bill’y Clarke coaching him and you’ll have an eggsellent striker for us next season.
Heard any names we’re interested in, ST? A new defensive mid? I like Bielik but that Onyeka from Brentford would be decent as well if they sign another midfielder in the summer.
I can’t believe the low opinion of Brandon Fleming to be honest. I thought he showed a lot of promise and I think I only saw him have one bad game (Derby, I think?) I was gutted when he went out on loan and thought he was very comfortable on the ball and consistently linked up well with players around him going forward. I guess time will tell but if we do let him go, I will be watching closely to see how he gets on/whether he makes us regret it!
He was excellent last season, one of the highest performing full backs in the league on the whoscored and whatever charts that go out every weekend. Had no pre season and was predictably a yard off the pace when thrown straight back into the side as soon as he was back in training. Never really got another chance since. Now obviously he’s a **** league one player.
No one thinks he’s ****, but he’s warming the bench for a terrible Oxford side and wasn’t fancied by Rosenior. Fortunately because of how good that end of last season was I think a team would pay a decent fee for him if he has no future with us. 23 now with 60 career appearances
Not really. He's a decent attacking wingback. Questions over his injury record and doesn't look remotely like a championship fullback in a 4 when the defensive job is a tough one Playing with Keano in front looking to track back and Greaves next door on the left spur of a back 3 then you have something that has been years in the making but he still has a lot to prove at this level as a left back in his own right. For me anyway. I'd have said similar about Elder last season now im saying sign him, so who knows? He's on a decent contract so he'll be hard to shift to a lower level permenantly I'd have thought.
