Match Preview;
Our visitors on Wednesday night, Norwich City, sit 10th in the Championship, with two draws, two losses and a win from their last five games. They are only two points off sixth place, and a playoff place, so they still have a lot to play for. They'll be keen to get back on track after a 5-1 loss against Boro on Saturday, a game in which they conceded four goals in a short space of time, either side of half time (41, 43, 45+6 and 49). Their top scorer is Joshua Sargent with 12 goals, with Teemu Pukki not far behind with 10.
So, I'll be honest...been a busy few days and I've only just had time to sit and watch the highlights from Saturday. What the hell happened there. First goal came as a result of three of our players getting in a muddle on the half way line, a decent free kick from Chair and a good effort from Field, both saved, penalty appeal not given, then Seny can't hold or parry the ball away and it was 2, then heads are down and then ball given away and they can pass through and tap in for 3. Leaves us two places and a point from the drop zone, and understandable boos at the final whistle.
Four massive games coming up now, hard to know what can be done other than getting 100% behind the team, cheering them on and trying to intimidate Norwich City and Bristol City, the two teams who are yet to visit Loftus Road. Can't quite believe we are going into the final four games of the season, we can debate how it has gone so badly until the sun goes down, but got four games to ensure the worst case scenario doesn't become a reality.
Team News
QPR: Jake Clarke-Salter and Tim Iroegbunam could return but Ossie Kakay and Sinclair Armstrong miss out.
Norwich City: Kieran Dowell, Ben Gibson and Kenny McLean are out, but Isaac Hayden may return.
Pre-match Talk
Gareth Ainsworth (QPR head coach): “There are four defining games coming up for us now and we need to make sure that we are in every single one of them.
“We have to make sure we are more solid because I want to stay in the Championship and I want to build for next season. With my own stamp on this place I know what we can achieve.
“it is about us and our resolve.”
David Wagner (Norwich Manager): “”It’s a big game for both teams for different reasons. We are used to a direct style which they play under their new manager.
“We’ve faced a comparable style so we know what to expect.
“We are excited, it’s great to be playing for something at this stage of the season. We would love a lot more points but playing for something, we’ll take it on.”
Only thing we can do is get behind the team and shout as loud as possible...
...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!
