Whenever he gets his badges, I can see him as a future manager for Sunderland, but hopefully Mogga somewhere in the system...I like the guy

There are definitely some big (well, biggish) names still in football at the lower levels because of their love for the game, not because they're chasing the £

But he is only 32. He will never be able to earn what he can know as a top player. He owes it to his family to earn what he can while he can. And of course the children will have been brought up in Merseyside.

Not in Henderson's league though really. And moving around for him by then was what he did IIRC.

Of course, by normal standards. But he won't be living by them, and he has many decades of life to pay for.

Also will still have England ambitions which as we all know tend to go out the window when you play for Sunderland, especially if we’re still in the championship

Good point about not wanting to move his kids about and as Hudson says it would hurt his England career assuming we're staying in the championship.

Money wise though, and I'm assuming he's a sensible lad with his head screwed on and not riddled with gambling debts or some such, if it was me looking at my country mansion, extensive property portfolio, fleet of cars and god knows how many millions in the bank then to some extent I'd feel it was job done and I could afford a pay cut for a few years for sentimental reasons.

I think someone mentioned he's going into coaching when he retires and I wouldn't be surprised if he was successful there too. He's the perfect type of character for it.

Timing could work out perfectly, bring him in as a player, then player coach eventually taking over from Mowbray as he's getting on a bit.

With his money he could come back and buy a nice house in Pennywell or Southwick.

Shop is opening up as a Naga Noodle express. Supposed to be canny according to those who have been to other ones. Obviously not on the level of Lee's.

It's good that someone has opened it again, but Lee is nostalgic. Legging it up on a break time for dinner in the 90s. Gravy was unreal. They used to keep the sauce the spare ribs came in and see it, known as "Red sauce". Saturday night supper from there with a film from the video man in his Bedford rascal. Memories

Aye, we used to swap between there and the chippy at Redmonds for dinner at school. Don't even let the kids out of the school these days. <doh>
