    Agreed.

At that price your buying him and no-one else in that transfer window (unless you've got a bottomless pit and are planning to dodge ffp).

Essentially Dortmund's price is to put off clubs, so that the only clubs that could afford to sanction a £100m+ move are the ones that don't actually need to buy him.

Realistically the only clubs that can afford to pay that are:
City - Don't really need him
Newcastle - No interest from the player
Chelsea - Already bought millions of players do they need another, plus they must be in breach of ffp
    PSG - Seemingly not interested
    Man U - Player doesn't seem interested.

I'd question Real Madrid and Barca's ability to spend, both have well know issues with finances recently.

City are losing gundogan. De bruyne is over 30 now. Bernardo silva constantly being linked to move away. There’s space there for him.

Only thing is he seems more of a powerful box to box and doesn’t seem to suit peps tippy tappy intricate play in midfield so who knows.

Tbh if i was him madrid would be my choice. What a move to make. Kroos modric to learn off and in a year will be part of midfield of Tchoumeni, valverde and camavinga

kdb is a powerful runner too.

Bellingham would be their next 10 years solution.

in effect we have vacated the pitch not thar we were ever really on it

I'm not sure what this 'bought for Ljinders .... bought for Klopp' thing is you're on about. I suggested that Ljinders has personal knowledge of those two leagues which may be being used as part of the scouting system. I wasn't 'bashing' him or Klopp.

Given up on Bellingham as will cost too much… now being linked to rice and caicedo, both of which will cost 100m as well <doh>

Ljinders wrote a book called Intensity about the 21/22 season in which he says "our identity is intensity". I think some have said that since he wrote it, all the intensity has disappeared. It's clearly his fault :bandit:

    yup.

    I find it very silly.

that said I think folk should leave the books to when the retire or leave where they are

and documentaries are always a terrible idea

Ah, ok. I rarely take any notice of football books.
I did wonder where Jimmy got his opinions on how influential Ljinders is, as there's little sign of it on the surface.

the journalists have all literally come out and said Klopp and ljinders have had more influence, and it’s a big reason why Ian graham left because he felt he wasn’t being listened to.

Look at the recent signings and tell me that suit the profile we used to sign. Thiago, nunez, gakpo, carvalho are all completely different profiles to the players they replaced. Not to mention the daft contract extensions being offered to Hendo. Bobby and Milner.

i know you don’t like Edwards but you reap what you sow. The process has gone to **** since he left whether you want to believe it or not

From the articles from journalists. You also have to look at how the tactics are now and how identical they are to the style that ljinders employed at NEC. It’s not a coincidence.

also, I have an inside contact within the data boffin community who knows Ian graham and will spearman very well …

Tbf I've read quite a few comments, not on here, that suggest that Ljinders has made himself look a bit silly with the timing of the book given our lack of intensity lately. For some it comes down to either coincidence or correlation.

carvalho as 19year old young homegrown player at a bargain fee?? compare and contrast to ings (at the time) and minamino?

    Compare and contrast

Diaz at 25 joining LFC to mane at 24 joiningg LFC, fees: both called bargains.
Firmino joining LFC at age 24 for a rather eyebrow raising 29mil and contrast to gakpo arriving at 23.

I eman i don;t quite know where this comes from jimmy, if you focused purely on contract extensions for OAPs I'd be fine with your point that people might have nose out of shape.

literally the single player thats an outlier is actually Thiago. everyone else fits the buy and develop strategy of 23-25 year olds to go on and go do big things.

Didn’t need the recruitment team to do that. Everyone with an internet connection and access to google could see the age profile of squad was going to be an issue.

It’s why we’ve now brought in players like gakpo Nunez diaz Jota Konate to bridge that gap. Just need to do the same with midfield

If only in 2021 the transfer recruitment idiots could see that mane was going, origi was going, minamino was going. what were they thinking buying actual forwards to replace forwards

if only they had not decided that young players like Jones and Elliott might bridge a gap. how could they be so foolish as to not splash 100mil of money the club didn't have and another 500k a week on wages that the club didn't have "just in case"

if said recruitment team were so worried why was ox and keita not flogged for 10mil or less each just to get some funds to buy Bellingham big toe?
