I was just pointing out that one's predictive prowess is always more impressive with a little confirmation bias thrown in. :)
In reality, I still wouldn't rule the Chavs out entirely because their recruitment policy is clinically insane.
I still wouldn't rule him out of coming to us, and the whole "ended pursuit" thing being a bit of smoke and mirrors - but that's not what I think will happen.
FSG would have to change their policy and lob in some of their own dosh but I can't see that happening. Even if they did, I don't really approve of us going down the route of paying vastly inflationary fees.

the maths don't add up for us and never did, as you say something has to radically change the equation. We I think can all see thats not coming in 2023 so bellingham is out.

The Chelsea maths are nuts. they should be in an impossible FFP situation and gambled (IMO) on the time form take over until FFP becoming about % of revenue and the now ticking 3 years to implement (from june 22 all agents fees, transfers and wages must be <70% of revenue)

they IMO have gambled on amortisation over much longer timeframe which has been scuppered.

Chelsea have now only got to 25/26 to get under this cap and they were gambling that their longer amortisation would do that for them.

LFC before transfers last season were on 61% wages only to revenue.
 
Getting back to the crux of the matter, FSG are not prepared to compete for the very best players and we are spreading the limited cash available on lesser players. Much as I hate what Man City/United/Chelsea/Newcastle are doing with oil money and other funds, the reality is we are now a mid table club with no prospect of champions league football and it is hard to see how we can compete with the big four given that FFP does not exist

it only doesn't exist on the basis that the oil states can make up their revenues to suit the 70% limit.

we are not only spreading the cash on players. we are paying for stadium.

the sad fact is we are not even willing to be the best at the model that might generate success.

Brighton are absolutely spanking our arses in comparison with their player searching and moneyball risks.
Arsenal are spanking our arse on young up and coming players of the right profile and youths.

We seem to want to take no risks, but get proven european performers (see nunez) or players proven in the prem or really buy cheap youths from round the grounds and then hope.

Its very very difficult play moneyball when you also want success as these players need time to develop. the harsh glare of LFC fans and expectations is nothing compared to the Cheslea and real lunacy but equally the pressure at a brighton isn't a 10th of what it would be at the big time.

Caicedo and macallister have benefitted form full on game time. Caicedo benefitted from bissouma sale (whos now where???) Ferguson has benefitted form trossard and that. OUr yuong players have to fight through heaps of dead wood like keita and ox and milner and jones.

to make our bench never mind get a game like bajcetic did takes luck and grabbing your shot.

Doak will have to go on loan.
clark will have to go on loan

they won't get a change to take a claim imo.
 
Not sure what's changed for the story coming out that we are no longer in for Bellingham. The extent of the rebuild has been obvious for a good while. The transfer fee has been obvious for a good while. It's reminding me of the paper talk that we were no longer in for Alisson just before we signed him.

Bellingham has been top of our wishlist for some time, although the club has made no official comment about it. To now be claiming the fee it would take to land him could be used on several players, just doesn't add up when that's been more than obvious for a while. There's no need to even leak anything about it and the timing is off as well. Why let the fans down now when our support is vital for the run in? I think something else may be at play. More twists to come.

I agree. It's just seems off. Personally, I think it's a tactic because we know Jude wants us and we're driving the price down as much as possible.

As much as I have had a go at FSG for the lack of investment over the years, they did sanction £100m on two attackers who may or may not be good enough for us. That's on Klopp and Ljinders because they were their targets. It's well known that Edwards and Ian Graham left because they weren't listened to (possibly the same for Julian Ward).

If we are going to be successful in recruitment, we need a strong DOF combined with Spearman leading the recruitment process.

As much as we have to rebuild, I don't see how we can afford Jude and still have enough money to replace everyone else.

Not an accountant and not an insider, but it seems to me it's either Jude or three other positions.

I agree. I'm glad that Klopp has a big input because he's the one who has to get the blend right and he shouldn't be 'given' players that he doesn't feel fit his system. I'm not sure when Ljinders got more of a say but it's noticeable that we scout more in the Dutch league now where he plied his trade. We need a functioning transfer team each with their own job, not everyone having a say on everything.

I really sincerely doubt we bought say diaz and nunez via ward for klopp and then went right let's go get gakpo for linders.

we shop for value.

daiz was on the list for 3 years before we moved on him due to Spurs.

none of these are flights of fancy to plane klopp or linders

the crazy thing is day 1 klopp walked in certain players were put on the get it done list. that list included matip, wijnaldum and mane. others such as Robertson and salah were proposed to the main man.

With regard to Ljinders, I actually meant to say Dutch and Portuguese leagues - the two leagues he has worked in and knows well.

it's no secret ward was responsible for scouting there prior to his promotion.

it's also no secret diaz was watched for Porto and played against us and was on our transfer list for years.

it's also no secret that nunez was on our south American list and played against us for benfica so was again a long term project.

the fact linders or anyone else on the coaching staff worked there is incidental imo.

as for Holland? we have not bought many from there direct. we have bought Dutch players like wijnaldum and vvd.

I sincerely doubt gakpo is anything like "bought for linders"

there's zero evidence for any of this klopp/linders bashing
