I think the club briefing all the local journalists is more of a negotiation tactic to say ‘we know Jude wants us so you (BVB) better lower your demands’. However if we are genuinely out of the race, then it could be a blessing in disguise as the Jude money could be used for 2-3 very good players. The biggest issue I have with potentially missing out on Jude is that the club, mostly Klopp, sacrificed several windows and opportunities to strengthen the squad because we were hell bent on Jude. If he doesn’t end up here, it’s a massive egg on the face and shows how poor the squad management has been for quite some time. Along with midfielders, we really need a DOF to help give us more strategy around recruitment because it has been shocking for some time
The weird thing is how this story is being reported. Normally transfer rumours start with one or two outlets and then it spreads. This story about us ending interest in Bellingham has appeared on every sports news outlet all at once. It seems that none of the stories quotes anyone or even mentions "sources inside the club". The best they can do is come up with quotes from like a year ago.
I'd stop trying to rationalise and find reasons why this might not be true. you'll only end up disappointed when the player sits there on a man city shirt (Chelsea have basically ran aground on the madness of the owner) lfc reality is a 50million transfer budget before sales. there is no other pot of gold.
The club have never said they are in for him and they also haven’t said they aren’t in for him. Nothing different has happened. since the World Cup I have thought that we have little chance of getting him.
you can get at least 2 love island wannabes for the same amount of stalking effort. thats the type of smart work LFC are now into.
All that plastic surgery and shallow fake personas. It's a no from this old skool admirer of the female form Mito.
if you want class you have to pay for it. as Jurgen would say, work smarter and get 2 or 3 chavs for the same money.
james maddison rumours are resurfacing. He will have 12 moths left on contract some the summer so is another bargain bucket buy we will likely be chasing.
Ah ay. I'd check the source though as Pearce can't be described as reliable especially since the fallout with the club.
I cannot see real doing the deal either. He has 2 years left so dortmund are completely in the driving seat. He can choose to like like a football pauper and go on a free in2 years (but dortmund will not play him if they think he tries it) or he can join the club willing to stump up irrespective of who they might be. the 25mil deal at 17 for 5 years was great to push him on but he was always likely to end up caught out like this. Haaland got a release clause and a shorter contract as he was more than willing to take the gamble to get to the end point. Chelsea seem to have lost thier collective minds and got nuts before getting caught out by FFP via rule changes so unless they can fire sale a huge amount of cast offs they seem to be stuck wishing they could bid. The price would be no issue to thier mad owner. city will pretend to be good lieel ffp bunnies and then end up paying the fee and then make the guy take half his wages under the table. Real IMO will not pay the fee as they cannot afford it. they talk the game but would need to sell up. they will likely be focused on mbappe again. Its a bad time to be an english player serviing your u21 years in germany. You are going to be a foreign player in your own country as far as the CL is concerned. (the prem rules are only 2 years form 15 to 17?) If the lad doesn't move this summer to city he will be a foreign player everywhere.
todd bohley has spend the fee on 6 other players as well s 105mil on fernandez. 600mil spend and a rule change has meant cheslea should be out of it. they are mad enough to try but i fail to see how they can avoid massive FFP penalties. I suppose they might try the everton route and say covid made the todd a nut job.
Simple fact is we can't afford to spend £130m on one player no matter how good. If we were in a great position with the squad and didn't actually need to freshen or add/replace then maybe we could afford this, but not this summer Only clubs that have more money than sense or don't really need him will be willing to spend that on one player.
the rule change will surely only apply to future transfers and i haven't seen we have changed our ffp rules . Chelsea biggest problem is the fact that they have in effect got circa £100m transder fee to take into account each of the next 5 years before making any more transfers .
