This is how I felt when we lost O'Neill. I suspected that relegation from the Prem would be imminent (and it was) after he left, so his value to our club was higher than any players in my eyes. But managers can just leave and drop you in the sh!t without a bye or leave. There should be some sort of transfer fee on managers just as with players (Celtic should have given us a small fortune!), this would probably encourage clubs to stick with managers longer too instead of sacking them left, right and centre. But as it stands there isn't and compensation is not the same thing. This just covers any lost funds that you might incur when recruiting a new manager.
Agreed. When a manager is sacked he's entitled to have his contract paid in full, I think the same thing should apply in reverse, so any manager who leaves should have to make sure that the value of his contract is paid in full as compensation(along with the costs of bringing him in, if he leaves within 18 months of his arrival).
