England lead 1-0 at half-time. The ground is sold out, which is pretty impressive.

Sean Dyche crying about Harry Kane is front page on BBC Football, again:
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/65211262

This happened 4 days ago and nobody thinks that it wasn't a red card.
One of their players goes mental and it's ours being dragged over the coals.

I was ashamed of Kane’s reaction personally.

I'm struggling to remember the match, but we had one recently with face contact and no red.
Why risk it by staying up, especially when the bloke's just poked you in the eye for no reason?

I understand what you’re saying but I can’t accept all of the over reaction by ANY players. It’s ridiculous and is ruining my enjoyment of the game.

And that would be fine if it was a consistent view promoted by the media. It isn't.
Take the dismissal in the Leicester v Villa game the other day.
Ashley Young doing an Ashley Young and getting an opponent dismissed:

The 2nd foul is absolutely nothing. Little if any contact, but a writhing, rolling reaction.
The ref reacts to that and sends Dewsbury-Hall off, then Villa win.
Nothing from the commentators, pundits or the BBC, despite a big influence on the result.
That decision doesn't happen without that reaction, yet not a peep.

Yes, if there was a consistent view and approach, that would help.

However, all the time players do this overreaction, and seeing people booked or sent off is just going to encourage everyone else to do it.

I thought referees had the power to book people for diving or behaving in a way to encourage the officials to book or send players off? I very rarely see this happen.

I would rather our players stop the whole fiasco because it’s so pathetic to watch. And season by season, it’s getting worst. I can’t imagine Kane doing something like that a few years back. I suspect that this is something that coaching teams are now encouraging and quite frankly, it needs to be stamped out.

The flip side of this is that officials need to be consistent with their decisions.
It's especially true of the use of VAR.
If players know that they'll get more decisions by doing this sort of thing, then they'll do it.
That prick diving against us against Saints for a late penalty, for example.
No media uproar about that. No punishment for the officials. No punishment for the player.

Yeah, but she was wrong. <whistle>

Our players could act perfectly and they'd never receive praise for it. Quite the opposite.
The same pundits criticising Kane would've slaughtered him for not being street-wise.
They would call it a loser's mentality and claim that we don't want to win enough.

Streetwise doesn’t equate to acting like a big girl’s blouse!

Go down the hood and behave like that, you will get slaughtered. Maybe “streetwise” has a different definition in this woke era :emoticon-0138-think
