Here we have two fellas who I genuinely like, but truly have their heads buried in the sand and unwilling to confront any uncomfortable truth.

Labour embarrassingly admits its flagship promise to freeze council tax won’t actually happen
LABOUR was today embarrassingly forced to admit that its flagship pledge to freeze council tax won't actually help anyone - or even happen.
Launching the party's local elections campaign in Swindon, Sir Keir Starmer vowed to save households £98 on average as part of a town hall tax freeze.

Residents will be paying up to 15% more for their council tax
He said: "If there was a Labour Government, you could take that council tax rise you just got and rip it up."
But Labour was forced to admit the halt would only go ahead if the party was in government NOW.
Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves refused to commit to freezing council tax if Labour wins next year's general election, leading critics to slam the pledge as "pointless".
Tory Chairman Greg Hands blasted Sir Keir for taking the public for fools.

Home Secretary Suella Braverman claimed “the perpetrators are groups of men, almost all British Pakistani”.
Was she right in saying that?
Grooming gangs do seem to be a predominantly Asian/Pakistani thing. And as has been pointed out by Quillam and other Asian reporters…..it is a problem.

I don’t know the exact figures with regards to the ethnicity of grooming gangs to make a comment in regard to “almost all”.
But my guess is that “predominantly” wouldn’t be far off the mark.

I think it’s fair to say the cases involving brown blokes get more media coverage and scrutiny from our hardworking government though.

Well the truth is that grooming gangs are predominantly white.

There is of course a suggestion that there is an over-representation of Asians in the numbers based on demographic percentages, but even then it's not really clear from the statistics.
The one thing that's certain is that Braverman saying that grooming gangs are 'almost all British-Pakistani' is plain wrong and a calculated dog-whistle to racists.
Interesting…..but then does that make the likes of Quillam, Maajid, Champion etc ‘dog whistling’ racists ?
Or is it that, so has been reported, the ethnicity of these groups is often not reported due to fears of accusations of racism ?
I’ve just about lost the will to live but Quilliam might not be the most honest source.

So just by a quick read I’m sure you’ll agree, as the data used in the report is missing, it’s pretty meaningless.
You could of course also interpret from the data, if I’m reading it correct, that yes whites accounted for 30% and Asian for 28% which you could say is predominantly white. However as the population in this country IS predominantly white, then it would make it correct that Asians are over represented.
It’s an uncomfortable truth
You can see the data from the report above….but of course you’re free to make some kind of sarcastic comment to suit yourself. It’s what you do….but you’re still likeable

It’s a murky think tank with questionable funding. No other sources even with the slanted focus on grooming gangs as opposed to other noncing come close to the figures they do but the overriding theme seems to be that the data just isn’t very robust and could easily be overestimating the role of Asians.
Braverman’s words are dangerous and they’re intended to be. They know exactly what they’re doing and have no interest at all in actually fixing the problem.
Are you saying the maths is wrong ? Or just manipulating figures to suit your cause ?

I’m using the official figures as reported in the official report that you and stroller have used for your argument.
I’m just pointing out that the figures can be manipulated and used any way you like, however the truth is there for all to see if anyone wants to delve a little deeper than the headlines.
And I totally agree with your last point, Bravermann is of course using it for her own means. She’s a right wing Tory who wants to appeal to other right wing Tories.
However the truth is the truth
