I don’t understand the reference

He spoke about Porro having one of the worst debuts (which is probably fair) but also how he thought he was a poor player in general and stuff iirc, so now after impressing since that debut, Porro’s basically saying he’s making Sherwood shut his mouth and isn’t the first person he’s proven wrong.

Record (the Portuguese one) claim that we're looking to pounce on Manuel Ugarte after contract talks with Sporting broke down

While there's a couple of pinches of salt required, partly because the reliability of Portuguese sources blows in the wind and partly because Record does have a track record of linking him with us, but it is intriguing because he's an out-and-out DM but with silky ball control, and he can ping passes around for days

Obviously there's the issue with adding another CM to the pile, as well as the fact he does bear a lot of similarities with Skippy (as in, the player we already have) but if we're going to play a three-man midfield next season (which is a possibility given some of the coaches we're linked with) it's possible to have a lot of variation with the midfield three, as Ugarte can play as the base behind Bentancur & one of Bissouma/Sarr/Hojbjerg, or he can play alongside Bissouma with Skippy as the base

Matteo Moretto says that Sergej Milinkovic Savic will not be renewing his contract at Lazio and it's 90% likely that he will be moving in the summer, with Lazio setting the price at €40m rather than lose him for nothing next year

Don't suppose Bayern want to register an interest in Bissouma...?

Manchester United are preparing to make an £80m bid for Tottenham and England forward Harry Kane, 29, after club chief executive Richard Arnold sanctioned a potential deal.

Here we go

Sport are saying we’re in advanced talks for Lenglet on a permanent deal, around £12.5m.

I think one or two mistakes aside Lenglet has done ok for his first season in England and probably been our best summer signing (you could argue that’s pretty damning though) and for £12.5m it’s a decent price for someone with his experience.

Won’t alter the fact we still need a new top tier CB though.

That would be the Clement Lenglet that Conte was reportedly harrumphing about us signing because he wanted Bastoni, even though Bastoni was adamant that he would stay at Inter last summer...

he’s been ok

nothing to shout about

unless you’re a bit desperate then anything to shout about will do

And that's exactly what he should be, given we took a punt on him being good enough to hold the fort for a season, and he's just about done that

The main positive of Lenglet being signed is it allowed us to play Ben Davies as a LWB, which may not sound like much - but then you think of the other options...

Random Speculation Watch
Ah yes, it's that time of the season where the Twitter and reddit crowds start going a bit mental* at the thought of showing off who they bought on Football Manager lately
*(Not to be mistaken for the other reason the Twitter fanbase is currently going completely ****ing hatstand right now, where today's Two Minutes Hate is Donna Cullen because of reasons...)

First of all, there's the belief that we are interested in Mallorca attacking midfielder Lee Kang-in, solely because he was linked with both Brighton and Feyenoord in January so the assumption is that, if we were to bring in either De Zerbi or Slot, that would automatically mean Lee Kang-in is one of our top targets since he was a target for two people who may or may not be our manager next season at a completely different team

Secondly there's a lot of noise about Monster Energy Dusseldorf CB Noel Bigo Atom...a player who I legit thought didn't exist due to his almost complete lack of a footprint online, which is explained with the simple fact he's in their U19 squad - not that you'd know that from the way he's been talked up, that made him sound like he was Gvardiol's understudy looking to step up when Gvardiol is inevitably sold for £lots this summer rather than an U19 player whose contract expires this summer who has never been near their first team. I mean, if we can pick him up for peanuts I wouldn't be aggrieved as he's a left-footed CB and he would fit into how we're bringing in prospects for our U21s at the moment, but the likelihood would be that if he did sign he wouldn't play for the first team for at least 18 months
