Is that down to the club messing up their development or down to the players just not being good enough?
The club messing up their development Does anyone really think that Lucas should be getting more playing time in 2022-3 than Bryan Gil?
Gil > Lucas But at this stage Gil needs more minutes for his development than even Lucas is getting. I guess it all goes back to signing youngsters that need to be developed but then appointing managers that want the finished article and are more focused on the here and now than 2-3 years down the line
In the case of Conte, his abysmal squad management doesn't help considering we have players who are the finished article and they're barely getting minutes either, with Bissouma the most obvious example Obviously we don't want a repeat of how Nuno had a very clear A and B squad, which was obvious in our ECL matches last season, but we also don't need an attitude of first xi or nothing which we've seen this season, especially when injury or suspension mean we finally draft somebody into the team and they look like somebody who hasn't played in months
Conte even more than Jose is all about the here and now, he’s not fussed about a young player that he didn’t even sign (Gil) or one that he didn’t want (Spence). I don’t particularly blame him for that as he’s always been like that and his league finishes show he gets it right more than wrong. The issue which we all agree on is that makes him a wrong fit and I’m unsure why Paratici and/or Levy appointed him whilst bringing in young players without a clear plan of loan and development etc.
Especially on the left. That was a mad sub against Forest. We had Danjuma and Perisic on the bench, yet brought on Moura at LW. Bizarre.
It could be the culture that Ten Haag came from at Ajax, a winning club but one that's not rolling in money with a need to develop its youngsters as opposed to Conte and Jose who have the buy it now get rich quick mentally, personally I prefer the Ajax way
So do I. But with no offence to the Dutch league, it isn't the PL. And with only 34 league games, fewer cup games and only 5-6 other clubs of any standing, this gives the likes of Ajax much more chance to rotate squads and bring on youngsters. They also get almost guaranteed CL football, enabling those same players consistent exposure to the top level. The Ajax model has much more chance of success in that environment I would think?
Apologies if previously discussed: Would mean breaking the clubs record transfer fee (twice over), break the top wage figure by at least 25%, but, assuming the finances permit and player open to the move (itself, highly unlikely)...as a signing to make a statement of intent, should Spurs make a bid for Bellingham? Almost a case for building a team around him, but is he that good? Or is it just the 'young English next World Beater' syndrome? Personally, think he's a really good player, but over-hyped. Thoughts?
Would depend a lot IMHO on who the manager is. I believe that if Pochettino had got Sancho, he would have got performances from him akin to Dele Alli first two seasons (another reason why I believe Citeh were hell-bent on Spurs not signing him) . Could you see Conte lifting Bellingham to the peak ??
Rhetorical question, I imagine, judging by his (mis) management of the young talent at his disposal currently.
I've not followed Conte's career that closely but seeing the evidence from his time at Tottenham I could not see him nurturing a talent like Bellingham, he would rather spend the fee on 3 or 4 28yr olds with proven history
We're supposedly the favourites for Bellingham's signature. Not Jude, obviously. His younger brother, Jobe. Someone in that household reads the Bible. Still only 17, but a similar prospect, by all accounts. Not if we have anything to do with it!
Between Jobe Bellingham and Jude Soonsup-Bell, we've basically got Jude Bellingham without having to fund Dortmund's next five transfer windows
Kim Min-jae Watch Been a couple of weeks, hasn't it? Football BSider claim that Kim Min-jae has a €43m release clause and that we are considering activating it this summer, although Man Utd are also sniffing around Just a reminder we could've signed him for less than half of that last summer...
