That’s what I was thinking. It can’t be technique, decision making etc, can only be confidence, unless Southgate has some magic new attacking shape which requires specialist input. Which I doubt.
Given his record as a coach can’t really see what he’ll bring to the U21’s either. Seems like the FA have abandoned this role as a way to develop future England managers, like they did with Southgate. Carsley (who’s done a good job) played for Ireland and now (perhaps) a Dutchman……
Yeah, don't fancy him at all as U21 coach. A lot of talent there of course.
