Despite the sportsdirect.com@stjamespark thing, everyone still calls it St James' Park, but now when we see the live ford football special, we'll here the Martin Tyler say something like "Newcastle vs Sunderland, at the walkers crisps stadium... and it's live!".

This is getting a bit silly now.

Or the Tampax Compak Stadium :S

If it actually results in another company buying the rights I don't mind, although would have to come at the end of the season I believe, one of the papers mentioned wanting a combined shirt and stadium sponsorship package. If it doesn't and Ashley just slaps sports direct on our kit too I'll be slightly less happy.

It is a worrying site when we, Newcastle fans, are treating this as lightly as this. This man has broken us down so much that he is going changing the NAME OF OUR STADIUM! It has been our name since 1892! And this man is changing it, for the simple fact that it will attract new investors. This means a couple of things. One being that he is still intending to sell the club, and another being that when the new owners arrive, they will change the name of the stadium. The name of the stadium is a part of our identity. This is disgusting. He might as well call us Sports Direct FC...oh crap, he might actually do that!

It was bound to happen eventually, most clubs are doing it now sadly.

He's a business man. Like most modern owners, the club is just a way to make money. It's sad but it's the way the world is. Ashley's ahead of most of the pack though.

Tradition is all well and good but it doesn't pay the bills.

Why would I care if it does piss you off? You all know I'm right.

Doesn't piss me off, but you'd save yourself a hell of a lot of typing on this thread if you'd refrained from saying 'Get over it'. You have a valid point, but there's clearly another thread filled with people gutted about the loss of the name so it's hardly wise of you to say 'Get over it' unless you were looking forward to the sort of posting arguement you managed to get into right away.

We're nearly debt free. We don't need this extra 8m.

The fact you say it's sad that these stuff happen is why were angry?

You're starting to contradict yourself now.

'We' don't need it but the money's there to be taken. It'd be foolish to not do so.

I find it sad but you don't see me raging like you. The game's been headed this way for years now, you had to have seen it coming.
Just chill out and stop taking it all so seriously, it's only football.

He doesn't need to give away naming rights to ****ing make money though. He should find some other way. I'm not claiming to know all that's going on in the club, but surely there must be another way to make money than to get rid of the ****ing historic symbols.

If Mike Ashley were to come out and say, we desperately need the cash, therefore selling the naming rights is essential, then I'd understand, but he's making all these decisions, and by not communicating with us, he's just giving us the impression that he doesn't give a **** about the fans feelings and the clubs tradition. We deserve ****ing explanations!!

He cant just keep on doing things like this and expect us to think he's doing it with the best intentions.

It's true. I genuinely think he might be a psychologist working on the theory of Stockholm Syndrome and seeing the effects of wearing people down.

If I've learned one thing from the Ashley era though; life goes on.

You're not raging because you're a Norwich fan.

And oh my deary **** you said the 4 dreaded words.

Get off our board.

What, you gonna boycott and protest outside SJP? People like you are the reason Newcastle fans are seen as a joke. You're out of touch with the modern world.
