Even though it doesn't make the body bigger? Seems harsh as the ball would have got stopped by the body regardless. If he deliberately moves his hand to stop the ball - penalty!

On Saturday his arm was stuck out
Do you remember at Tottenham when Elmo stopped a cross with his thigh and the ball flew up and hit his arm? Amazingly a penalty was awarded.

I dont think protecting your balls or face is classed as a natural positionThat would be in a natural position, it’s not making the body bigger and would have been blocked anyway.
He’s our best left back too!As time goes on and you start to judge him more as a left back rather than with the bias of a centre back ‘doing a job’ he’s starting to look worse and worse there.
He’s our best centre half in my opinion and should be playing there regardless. I wonder when we’ll start seeing Guardiola shafting all his best players into makeshift positions and leaving all his strikers on the bench in a team full of midfielders.

but there appears to be a body of opinion which says that if it's instinctive it's not a penalty
We don't have VAR
They do put their flag up right away in the Championship
it might not be quick enough for you but that's what they do in the ChampionshipDo they? Some of the linesman we've had must have arthritic arms if that's the case
Good Lord...I suspect it's mainly the dosh, a referee in the Championship gets a retainer and then £600 a game if they're the actual referee (rather than an assistant). In the Premier League they get a £40k retainer, then £1,150 a game if they're the actual referee. Even the top ones only get about £70k a year (though this can go up to about £200k a year if you get to the elite level and referee Champions League games, where you get £5,500 a game). It's not much compared to the average wage of even a Championship player.
Good Lord...
'Only' £70k a year? They'll be queuing up behind the nurses at foodbanks shortly...
it might not be quick enough for you but that's what they do in the Championship
Only, yeah, for being in such a mass marketed high profile industry that is bloated with money, and getting dogs abuse from thousands of fans up and down the country every weekend, you could take your 70k, roll it up rather tightly and shove it up your arse. **** that.
Also having to put up with the players, managers and the journalists.
I'd rather be refereeing in a professional match which has protection than on a park pitchOnly, yeah, for being in such a mass marketed high profile industry that is bloated with money, and getting dogs abuse from thousands of fans up and down the country every weekend, you could take your 70k, roll it up rather tightly and shove it up your arse. **** that.

You tend to find,if you do your job correctly, abuse is fairly infrequent?Only, yeah, for being in such a mass marketed high profile industry that is bloated with money, and getting dogs abuse from thousands of fans up and down the country every weekend, you could take your 70k, roll it up rather tightly and shove it up your arse. **** that.

they are only offside if they are interfering with playThat might be what they are supposed to do but they seem to flag much later than they used to. I'm thinking of times when a forward is chasing a through ball and the lino doesn't raise his flag until he has touched the ball. (Even though he was in an offside position when the ball was played through)
they are only offside if they are interfering with play
before that they are only in an offside position which isnt an offence
you have a point thereI'm sure you are right but isn't it bizarre that a forward chasing a through ball could be deemed not interfering with play?
