The only people that will call it anything besides St James' Park are mackems, same with the official title as it is now. Would be seriously annoying, but I don't see it having too much real impact.

This I wonder if maybe the have some other firm wanting to rename it

Could be. It's obvious that he is spamming the stadium with his logo to show prospective buyers of the enormous amount of possibilities they have to show off their company via the stadium so it seems logical that he'd be interested in that.

Ashley is still a massive **** and so is Llambias. I don't give them any credit for the position we're in now. All they've done is been tight ****ers, whereas our manager and scouting network has made do with it and found some bargains. I mean really, what has either of them done apart from restrict spending?

If they rename the stadium, it wont affect the positive I have for my club at the moment, but it will make me hate them more than I already do now.

Agreed.

The only reason the other name never caught on was because it was such a ridiculous mouthful. This one will be used by large sections of the media without a doubt.

It wont be the end either. Only a matter of time before the seats are red and blue...

I guess his thinking is that the best time to do this is at when the team's morale is at it's highest point in his era, and the fact that the int'l break means that people (in an ideal world) won't be as angry after 3/4 weeks without a home game?

I mean, with the team doing so well, would people consider boycotting? I guess his thinking is that it won't affect attendances as much as the start of the season.

This.

And this.

He's waited until the team are on a high and he's just sold thousands of those cheap season tickets so people are - he perceives - less likely to kick up a stink. We'll see what happens with this but wouldn't surprise me at all if this is 100% true, this is why I've been saying that while I'm totally behind Pardew and the lads I still hate Ashley and will never trust him.

I appreciate what he's done to balance the books but he is taking a massive steamy **** all over the club's history and its fans with this, nothing's sacred to the man. When it comes down to the crunch as long as things on the pitch aren't affected it's not that bad but if he thinks that everyone will be pulling in the same direction after this then he is mad, and it just ****ing deflates me tbh. He is killing the soul of the club.

I really want to hear the reason for this. Not that it is going to change anything. Just when I, and many other fans were considering the fact that Ashley might be doing alright, he ****s it up! What a prick!
