Winger Hogan Ephraim joins on loan until January 3rd from QPR. Why do you think he's needed, I thought we were well covered in this area??? http://www.southlondon-today.co.uk/Sport.cfm?id=41847&headline=QPR
He likes to play out wide, doesn't he? Maybe cover for JJ on the left.. Possible evina still struggling with his ankle?
I don't like short term loans. Cort is fine because it's a year long deal, but things like this can often upset the balance of a squad that has nothing wrong with it at the moment. Not sure why we need him unless there are injuries we don't know about.
Apparantly JJ took a knock on Saturday so possibly cover for him? If he's been brought in to play RM then that's just ridiculous.
Sounds like a character out of "Moby Dick". Can this grizzled old sea-salt play as an orthodox left-winger? Because we don't have a senior one of those on the books. Gives CP the option of doing something different if our opponents have sussed out our pattern of play and are having success in countering it. Also I think that in our new and more comfortable position (both in the table and financially) any short-term loans are trial periods with a view to possible permanent signings at knock-down prices. Ephraim would fit the profile. Promising youngster with great technical ability but apparently not good enough to establish himself in the Premiership (as he is now 23). Maybe CP hopes he can get the best out of a faltering career just as he is doing so far with Kermorgant. The problem with that arrangement is that if the player doesn't excel while "on trial" with us we wouldn't want him, but if he does excel his price will go up. Of course there could be a gentlemen's agreement and an "option" at a fixed price, but the mob running QPR have never struck me as gentlemen. Final thought: could our signing him to spite Palace be an additional motivation, or have we matured beyond that sort of childishness? Final final thought: is he eligible to play at Halifax so JJ can have a rest and we don't have to play Callum the Kid? Final final final thought: Just signing him as a short-term loan doesn't make sense. We don't have a hole to fill urgently. It only makes sense if we were proposing to sign him in the January window and want to "put down a deposit" having already agreed the price we will pay in January. And makes even more sense if we think either Green or Waggy (probably the latter) will be leaving us.
QPR fan here. Hogan is a great player. Bags of ability. Great distribution. Will work his socks off all game. He did a great job for us last season so i think he will be able to get into your side fairly comfortably.
A surprising signing, maybe there'll be some bad new on the OS about one of our widemen. Maybe Johnny Jackson's doctor is as bad as Michael Jackson's doctor? I suppose it's a positive sign if we, as a L1 club, can sign an established player linked with Championship clubs. I guess most PL managers would think that Charlton would be a good place to send loanees at the moment.
I understand where you are coming from. However, l find your final line a bit cheeky. After all, both clubs will be in the championship next year.... However, l do agree; this lad is talented and will certainly progress under better coaches than at present.
Let welcome him and not doubt CP. I guess it's cover- and it's good cover. JJ went off with a knock, so maybe it's a cover for that? Don't think it's panic stations yet.
Neither ours or the QPR site has reported anything yet, could this be some over zealous reporting or perhaps a hitch in the move? I can see him being able to contribute but I can only assume that there is an injury concern that we are not aware of otherwise this deal doesn't make much sense for a squad that has been performing so well.
I think it's slightly worrying as CP has got the balance of the side about right, remember what as said about loan players last season and it's a bit on the early side to get one in. There's nothing on the website about any of the wingers picking up a knock and needing time out so can't understand the signing unless we're waiting for some news. Perhaps all will be revealed in the fulness of time.
Good signing, very good player has joined us... Maybe cover for Waggy to push him further up top? I think we're see waggy start up top against Halifax sunday hopefully alongside Smith.. But with only 5 subs in the league whos going to drop off the bench? Hayes? Euell? With Pritchard coming back too Powell has some hard decisions to make, Or will he be brave and drop the keeper from the bench?
Wow didnt see this one coming (though saying that didnt think any of us did). Seems to be a lot of maybe's as to why this bloke is signing yet could simply be Chris Powell covering himself for the usual crazy Christmas period, could also mean Jacko can move inside to cover Stephens if we get too many injuries? Be interesting to know if we've permission for him to play on Sunday...
A4L, got to agree about it being a a possible signing to help over the Christmas period etc. If I'm right in thinking, the loan window closes soon, so either 1 of 2 things: 1) Cover for injuries/potential injuries during a tough period 2) Signing permanently in January I rate him though, seen him on the box a few times and looks a very good player, especially for League 1!
