I never thought we'd lose that unless one of their shameless dives was in the box. All I heard, this week, is about Norwich and their stylish football but it was just a series of long diagonals and crosses into the box. I honestly can't remember one move that impressed me.

Our goal was one of the few moments of quality imo.

They can play mate, no doubt, we never allowed them though. The pressing in the first half from Gelhardt set the tone and the way the likes of Hume and Neil and Michut won battle after battle in the middle 3rd made them hit and hope. Today will give this young side so much to build from we can win a game with such little possession. Michut was spot on at the end, being compact through the middle was the key.

I wish I lived nearer the AOL so I could volunteer my time to coach the French lads with the local slang, football terms, etc ...

... Mowbray seems to be struggling and I'd revel in it.

I'd be happy to go and fetch his biscuits and get the kettle on anarl <laugh>

Are the French lads struggling with English, or are they struggling with the Saltburn lingo?

In all the joy of winning I forgot to say how good it was to see Mick Harford in the crowd today. I know he was working for Luton, but he is a genuine top bloke. We have mutual friends in football and he has done me some real good favours when it comes to fund raising for kids footy. I used to coach a lad of a fella I played with forever ago. He is great mates with Mick. His lad went on to focus on his athletics but as a thank you he came over to me on his last game with a carier bag and said here is a gift for you from big Mick with a thanks from me. Signed Sunderland shirt, allardyce season, but with a few old lads signature as well (bally, gray etc). Mick signed it as well. Like I say, just a hell of a fella.

I don't know him, never met him and probably never will but he comes across as an absolute gentleman is his interviews. Always speaks very highly of the lads and seems like a top fella. So pleased he got over his illness, I'd buy him a pint any day of the week. Was hard as nails as a player.

He is as nice as a bloke as you can meet mate. Bloody tough bugger mind. He has a reputation and sometimes you meet fellas and wonder where the rep comes from. He is just a bloke that you know is solid but at the same time a brilliant bloke.

Just before my time as a player but I heard about his reputation as a hard player. Comes across as a very knowledgeable coach these days mate tbf, obviously knows the game inside out. As I say, he seems a top bloke with very grounded principles and a good grasp on reality and the day to day reality/struggles of life.
