Because they've been leaned on by the government. Why did they say not 24 hours prior that he wasn't going to be stood down then changed their position?

Or more likely, the legal teams had to look at things first....

Because you are comparing apples with oranges.

    Lineker: The government are Nazis.
    BBCPerson2: I support the government

You don't think one statement is stronger than the other? You don't think they'd get a different reaction at a disciplinary meeting?

You think the BBC is favouring a tory government, I don't.

Did Lineker say the government are Nazis? Must have missed that tweet from him, do you have a screenshot?

You don't think Sugar tweeting a cartoon of Corbyn in a car with Hitler is maybe just as if not worse?

Syd, can you please stop with this 'sweetie', 'petal', stuff. Makes you sound like a condescending prick.

HHH, I think you are massively overcomplicating things! Nobody is denying that there are multiple big problems currently, including the present government who I personally think have overseen a **** show for far too long (partly their own fault, partly not) .... hence Sunak's 5 promises. I don't think that anybody, again not least the government, is trying to make scapegoats out of the illegal immigrants / small boats / migrants (call them what you will) for 'all our woes' - it is just one issue among many that needs urgently fixing.

Back to Lineker. For me it isn't about political bias, it's simply about dredging up 30's Germany and all that was implicit in him doing so. Out of order, simple as.

Perhaps I'm being a bit condescending because the opposing views in this discussion are so painfully dumb. If you are so upset by it maybe sharpen up a bit dear.

Gary Lineker is not a BBC employee, he’s a freelancer that does some work for the BBC and what he posts in his personal Twitter feed is his own business.

The BBC are suggesting that he’s so high profile, that he should be subject to higher standards than other presenters that do BBC work, even though he’s not a news and current affairs presenter.

I’m not sure why this particular tweet has caused so much hissy-fitting, I follow him and he’s been tweeting predominantly political comments for years.

What ever you think about Lineker, I think we can all agree the BBC have handled this whole thing appallingly.

PS - We can do without all the Nazi stuff, he never suggested the government were gassing people.

I've no idea what he said I'm just joining in the fun based on what you said.

If Sugar did that then he should have been disciplined.

Should have been, but wasn't. :) Perhaps when considering that response we can get a clearer view than a hypothetical 'What if Lineker had called a Labour government Stalin'

    You said: "Oh do they?"
I'm assuming you mean me saying "The BBC doesnt care whether he talks sense or nonsense"
rather than "they do care if he's being impartial or not" which would be what would follow if you were using English correctly

You also said: "That's interesting to hear. I'm glad you're across what they care about."
I was going by what the BBC responded to. They didnt mention whether he was talking nonsense or not but they did mention impartiality.

No it's not dumb, it's just a different opinion to yours and those on the far left and far right, need to learn, understand and more importantly accept that others see things differently and have different opinions to theirs without the name calling and insults
