Only an opinion piece, but I’m glad the narrative is finally shifting.

Prolonged lockdowns were a mistake, vaccine mandates were a crime against humanity, and paper masks didn’t do anything.

The truth always comes out eventually.

Which opinion piece? You left off the links to verifiable sources that would confirm the shifting narrative, mistaken lockdowns, the criminality of vaccine programs and ineffective masks. Your version of the truth has and continues to have no grasp of reality. That the management of the virus crisis by the incumbent government was inept, incompetent and corrupt there is no doubt.

I have no idea what's going on with the strikethroughs in that post, heh. Site's having a minute.

Further to Os' credulousness regarding Fox News, it's worth noting that:

    - Tucker Carlson got sued for slander. Fox News' lawyers argued, successfully, that his reputation is such that a reasonable viewer would not conclude that he is telling the truth. About anything.

    https://www.npr.org/2020/09/29/9177...s-tucker-carlson-tells-you-so-say-fox-s-lawye

    - Fox News is involved in another, much larger defamation case, brought by Dominion Voting Systems. Documents handed over to Dominion have demonstrated that Fox's on-air personalities, including Carlson, knew full well that they were spreading bullshit:

    https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/fox...-privately-versus-air-false/story?id=97662551

And yet Os, the great skeptic, is willing to believe whatever nonsense they put in front of him. Despite Fox arguing in court that no one would reasonably expect Tucker Carlson to tell the truth, and despite documented evidence that he and other Fox talking heads say things they know to be false.

"That guy is the poster boy for the entire insurrection."

Not really, granted he's a colourful yet mentally ill fella - hence his moniker the QANON shaman. He like many others broke in to The Capitol, because he was encouraged to believe the 20202 the election was "stolen". This certainly can be defined as terrorism even if duped into taking action against the democracy of the United States.

The "poster boy for the entire insurrection," is obviously Donald Trump who was amplified by his media lung, Fox News. Trump along his Republican and media acolytes are guilty of stochastic terrorism and maybe more treasonous charges.

The shaman dude is being handled in the way he is - in the video - as security, police, politicians didn't know how to handle or react to a failed former president setting his supporters upon the seat of the United States Congress. Totally unprecedented, so it's to be expected lots of footage will look off to conspiracy types, who will see the improvised as premeditated.

Tucker Carlson, brave truth-teller, making it clear how much he hates Donald Trump in private (while spending years tongue-bathing his testes for ratings).

More Tucker behind closed doors, calling the Trump administration a complete disaster:

Will the BBC sack Lineker? Should they? Do we want our broadcasters to be gagged? It's always difficult when one agrees with the views expressed to see the way through to the principle of how far we are happy to allow the likes of Lineker 'freedom of speech'.

Specifically on the content, his language may be 'extreme' but he was responding to the bellicose language of the government. Perhaps what we need is some grown up discussion, but whether this is possible in the current climate is open to question.

It might be his last but I respect him for standing up to bullies. Yesterday the UK basically prevented refugees or asylum seekers from every coming into this country. If that is not abhorrent and worth raising then I don't know what is.

I'm waiting for the government to announce that this legislation will be retrospective. That will mean that any Indian, Pakistani, Chinese, African, Norman, Angle, Jute, Viking, Celt descendant will be refused entry and sent back. Er, hang on, that includes me

No he shouldn't be sacked or stopped from giving his opinion on his private social media. Government ministers and spokesmen have described him as out of touch with the people. What bollocks that is, there are many dissenters from this bill.
This BBC news article online today
BBC News - Gary Lineker to be 'spoken to' after comparing UK asylum policy to 1930s Germany. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-64883655
Gary Lineker has history, this from 2018.
BBC News - Jonathan Agnew to Gary Lineker: 'Keep your political views private'
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-46565154 pertainent extract below.
    "What is Lineker's defence?
Lineker falls into a slightly different category both because of his contract and his role as a sport presenter.
A BBC spokesperson said: "Gary is not involved in any news or political output for the BBC.
"As such, any expression of his personal political views does not affect the BBC's impartiality."
Lineker only presents sports coverage for the corporation, and is not a journalist or involved in news coverage or commentary.
Previously, the corporation has also defended his right to voice his opinions freely because of his contract.
In 2016, when he was criticised for some tweets about child migrants, the BBC responded by saying: "Gary is a freelance broadcaster and this is a personal Twitter account."

I think it’s a good thing. Hopefully someone will finally tackle the child grooming gangs next as well. Although that always seems a bridge too far.

We will see if these new policies actually do anything, but It’s high time this country was tougher on immigration & crime. Maybe then British society can move back towards being a pleasant place to be. The open door policy of the last couple of decades has clearly failed and brought with it huge negative consequences.

Although I like Lineker, he is massively out of touch here. How he can sit in his ivory tower and spout this bollocks as the country is falling apart, I will never know. He should stay out of politics tbh.

Finally the conservatives are actually being conservative.

Nah, this new policy is nothing short of inhumane. Scratch that it's not even a policy. It's nothing more than a desperate stunt to re-gain some popularity by showing all the anti-immigration voters that they are doing everything possible to lower immigration. Thankfully it won't get past the European Convention on Human Rights.

It is just pure “red meat for the base”. Necessary as the current government have no chance of winning an election any other way. They can’t win on achievements or the economy as they have trashed the economy and public services to the point many are non functioning

What isn’t mentioned is that it is also down to the current government that the small boats is such a big issue - because they have trashed the processes for legal pathways. So they are trying to campaign on solving a problem that they have helped to create. But that is true of everything when you have been in government as long as they have

As noted - it is against international law. So the plan seems to be to whip up outrage when it is blocked in some form or another.

Lineker has accurately summed up the bunch of racists currently running the country. The sooner we have a general election and this nasty lot are dumped on the scrap heap the better.

    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/20...ugh-fast-track-vaccines-chris-whitty-advised/

Just the chief medical officer telling the government that the virus isn’t deadly enough to fast track vaccines, back before the crimes against humanity occurred.

No big deal. I’m sure you’ll totally ignore the evidence in this case as well like you do with most things.

Matt Hancock shares lots of private correspondence with a woman who has previous for being indiscrete with confidential material. How can anyone so stupid and and who doesn`t carry out due diligence end up in a senior governmental role ? Especially given his previous indiscretions.
