I have never been one for bashing the police but I'm starting to agree with those who think they are only interested in the easy stuff, and given how dangerous things have become who can blame them?

I was in my office yesterday which overlooks the A63. This nob climbed over the fence (not sure why when he could have walked around it in around 7 steps) picked up a massive concrete fence block and lobbed it into the middle of lane 1 for no reason. Two different cars and a lorry both hit it causing god knows how much damage to their cars/truck before thankfully the truck hitting it moved it to the edge. It could easily have been a fatal accident. He simply climbed over the fence and walked off towards Hessle Road. I gave the police a description and offered to send them pictures but she said if they needed them they would ring me.

I left work and drove down Hessle Road as I needed to pop to the supermarket. Saw the bloke again upsetting a woman with a child outside Boyes so I parked up and rang again stating that I had eyes on him and if they wanted to arrest him for the earlier dangerous behaviour I will watch him until they arrive. She said 'thatnks for the update, we will update the case log'. I sat there for 20 mins watching him walk around abusing people before I thought **** this and left. I do not believe that there wasnt a single unit available to come to one of the most central parts of Hull in half an hour. I went to Asda and then as I left there was a fire near Gipsyville and guess what, 5 police cars all in attendance. Went back down Hessle road and the arse was sat on the floor at the boulevard crossing. If they wanted him they could have had him.

Surely what he did is a serious offence? Imagine if a small car hit that, or someone swerved to avoid it causing a major crash?

You should have told them, I think he’s holding what looks like a gun, when challenged after the armed cops descend with the chopper, you then say, well it looked like a gun, but could have been a mobile phone, job done.

It’s not just Hull. I live in London and it’s becoming a total **** hole over run by wannabe gangsters and a zero police force and bordered up shop fronts. Told the same by friends who live in Bristol, Nottingham & Manchester.
**** Country.

Yeah, I should have done but at the time I expected them to be as horrified as I was that someone had put people's lives in danger they might actually find a copper willing to muscle up and nick him.

You should know that the only time you see coppers on the streets of Hull is when Hull City are playing, after all we account for all the crimes in the City, don’t we?

I agree, always state that the offender is carrying a weapon wether it's a knife or a gun. True or not it'll soon get the response it deserves from the coppers. "Sorry officer I was mistaken" but it gets them there.

The Old Town and Humber Street are far better places to visit than the rest of the city centre. In fact, when you cross the bridge over the A63, it's like entering a different city.

That is the problem, the focus of Hull is now on the other side of the A63 where the development of the marine, Humber Street and the old town etc.

If they continue to improve Whitefriargate with decent eateries and nice bars , coffee shops - trade will move there and Humber street may suffer - but then there are a lot of lazy people who just can’t be bothered to walk to the marina or are frightened of navigating it by car . Maybe we’ll get two viable areas

It's a personal thing, but I'd rather they did all they can to keep the target audience for Humber St over there, so that they don't start turning up in proper pubs. <ok>
