How are people feeling about Firpo now? My own view is that he was yet another player getting mixed messages from Marsch. Marsch started the season off saying Junior has been brilliant in pre season but got injured but he is my LB when he’s fit again. This never happened and even though Firpo has been fully fit for months he chose Struijk ahead of him. Struijk was having nightmare performances but still no Firpo and I’m guessing that Marsch was scared of the reaction if Firpo selected. Firpo has taken lots of hammer from fans and some deserved but Marsch left all his defenders hanging out to dry because they were exposed badly by a ball over the top or a simple cross field pass. Firpo has scored more than Bamford recently too
Most pleasing thing for me was we actually didn't give away a stupid free kick in WP territory .......and Mr Humpty Dumpty's toffees got chewed up by vile......oh what a beautiful morning
I’m just pleased he is playing better, he needs to remain injury free. Yes he scored a fortunate goal, it could have been cleared and a quick counter down the left and we’d be screaming where was Firpo, I was pleased for him though, you could see what it meant to him with his celebration It depends on how the coach sets the team up, if Gracia wants attacking full backs he needs an organised defence for when we lose the ball. Regarding the Bamford observation earlier, I don’t think Rutter is ready to start, we need Rodrigo back. The only coach Bamford has consistently played well under is Orta but sadly I think he’s still a better starting option over Rutter. Quite a few games to go, hopefully we’ll develop Rutter and assuming we stay up he could be number one next season. Rutter needs a coach with coaching skills, not sitting down reading self confidence and belief crap, the entire team need to up their fitness level, they’ll do that now i’m sure
Something to cheer you up. After a string of mediocre performances back in December, Charlie Cresswell was rightly dropped. We got a few injuries, and he got another chance, and since then he has been immense. Last 2 games he has been MOTM and started to live up to the hype There just might be a very good player there after all.
We also have Hjelde out on loan at Rotherham too but an over the hill Cooper should be sold. Koch and Wober are immense so we have some serious candidates for CB slots next season not forgetting Struijk too
As much as I've gone in on Firpo since he joined (mainly for Blono I might say) I've always said he looked a beast at Betis as a youngster. He was **** at Barca and he's been **** here (both under Bielsa and Marsch so stop with the Marsch thing). I posted yesterday that his turning point was at Accrington when he scored the goal. The fans went crazy (reminded me of when Batty occasionally scored back in the day) and all of a sudden Junior grew and stuck his chest out a bit more. He then slammed one of their lads in to the advertising hoardings and was up and down his wing like a piston. He's looked much more confident since then and the fans have turned him in to a bit of a cult hero. He finally seems to belong here and mentally he is in a good place. Long may it continue.
An interesting league table based upon negative goal difference Palace -10 Leeds -10 Everton -15 Wolves -15 Southampton -22 Forest -24 Bournemouth -26 West Ham moved well up this table yesterday and now have -6. So shyt can change fast down in the zone and Leeds can make some positive moves if they lock the back door and pick up some points from some difficult games as well as beating the teams we should beat
it’s football fella - for two years they’ve played ok, been tight at the back and won lots of close games, that probably flattered them. This year they’ve played exactly the same, just let a few more in and missed a bunch of chances. People don’t believe in the idea of xg round here so it would be pointless to mention that they would be top half if their strikers had brought their shooting boots this season. It’s why there was no guarantee, but every likelihood it might change for them. Just as a few deluded cave dwellers among us felt there was a possibility it might change for us.
Hadn't realised that he'd managed a whole season of games. Is their an easy way online of finding out what his WDL stats over these 38 games?
Here you go WJ, although it's only 37 games, including cups https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jes...erein_id=399&liga=&wettbewerb_id=&trainer_id=
Thanks for the link, Aski. 25% win rate is the answer. JMOverall Leeds Win Stats W D L 4 3 5 12 4 6 10 20 8 9 15 32 25.0% 28.1% 46.8% Bugger! Sorry, but no idea how to paste in a spreadsheet. Hope the above makes sense. Has any recent Leeds manager had a poorer win rate. JM managed to equal Heck's 25%. Then again, Hock managed 33%. (I didn't realise that! ).
Leeds United Women booked their place a National Final for the first time since 2013, with a 2-0 win over Southampton Women. Boys, men, women we've beaten them all.
